I just installed DirectX 8, and ran 3D Mark 2000. My score came in at 6004. Strange results, so I installed the new leaked NVIDIA drivers, 7.17, and ran 3D Mark 2000 again. This time the score dropped to 5960. I used the System Restore utility in WinMe, and traveled back in time to yesterday, and ran the benchmark again using DirectX 7a and the official Det 3 drivers. This time, the score was 6270. Now, I made no changes to the drivers, this was out of the box for both tests. Anyone else getting screwed up results?

Odd indeed... My 3D Mark 2000 score went up roughly 300 points.

Hmmm, might be a ME thing. I haven't run 3dmark yet, but I get an extra 10 FPS in both UT and SoF, running 98FE.

more bad news
A guy just came into work, said that he installed directx 8 over the weekend. While playing Diablo, his computer crashed very hard. He lost a bunhc of settings, spent 2 days trying to remove it, and basically had to re-install his OS... Bummer!

That is a false statement Microsoft would love for you to believe... DX 8 can be uninstalled with DX Buster.

I'll say this, though. The ME system restore actually works as advertised. I restored my computer to the day prior, and DX8 was gone. I would have been pissed if I had to reinstall.
