Best Graphics-Card/Cpu Upgrade?
Cosidering upgrading my Graphics Card and maybe my CPU. I know which cards are the best and am looking at the ATI 9700pro or maybe the new 9800pro when it comes out.
My mobo (gigabyte 7dxr woth 512ram) will support up to a xp2600 cpu but say I went for a 2400 would the 9700pro be the best choice as I know the graphics card is sometimes left hanging around for the cpu to catch up? Would a 2600 be a good partner to the new 9800?? All the benchmarks for cars always seem to use the latest cpu's which doesnt help when trying to assess how it will perform on your system. I've currently got 1.4 t-bird btw. |

the +2600 Would leave the VC back hehe fast CPU. But usally a game is usally only really CPU based or Graphics based. I never really heard of a game that is bad on both that same amount....does that make sence?

I would say a 9700 or the new 9800? Nvid is a non-player... kinda.
If you get a 333fsb cpu, better get 3200 or 2700 ddr. Samsung is real cheap right now (3200/256@$49 ea), and it will go faster than the rating. Last edited by Blakhart; 03-14-2003 at 03:11 PM. |
