copying games
ok this is kinda a question of "how to?" i have the expantion to diablo 2 and i wanted to copy it so i did the i found a deep scratch on the origianal. so i tried to use the back up to see if that was messed up and it is. but it doesnt recognize it as the right cd. all i did was copy the files from the origianal to the burned cd. is there something else im sapposed to do? and is there any where that i can download the files that are missing off my backed up copy due to the scratch on the origianal when i burned it?

Since the original had the deep scratch, the copied will run the same because its still going to be messed up were that scratch was.

also, a copied CD wouldnt run the game, as the PC recognises it as being copied so wont start the game anyway

You best contact Blizzard and ask for a replacement.

If you burnt the cd before you scratched it you might be able to get it to work using a patch from www.gamecopyworld.com or www.megagames.com You want a "No CD patch" because the cd your using wont work.

yes, it will burn. heres how to do it:
Copy the Cd with CDCLONE with in raw. then move the music file to your game folder. try that and see if that works. |

you can use CloneCD and a no CD patch and it will think your game is the proper CD
I noCD patch most of my games as i cant be arsed putting the CDs in every time i want to play on the game, but some CDs have all the sounds on the play CD, so you have to have the CD in and you dont need to do it in raw, jsut use clone cd to write the CD from its ccd file, it gives the least errors compared to .iso, .bin etc |

ok i have discjuggler and its supposed to be on the same lines as clonecd. but i dont know how to work it right. i just posted another question under discjuggler in this forum. i have insectors too but that program seems to only work with blindread and write wich i dont have. but insectors is an emulator that lets you play burned backup games that weren't made to look real to the comp. this would be good for me but as i said it seems to use the blinread file and i dont have blindread. its a .BMi or something like that.

CloneCD is the way to go... select the read subchannel data and it will work it did for me.. also, if you have some space on your HD, I use Virtual CD v4.5... you can copy your cd to your hd and it will run without the cd and no-crack needed .. like the original.

CloneCD works the best for true 1:1 copies - meaning, you most likely won't need the original, a No CD patch, etc. to make it run. However, if you plan to backup any of your games in case something happens to your original, then I suggest www.gamecopyworld.com as someone stated above. The best source for these patches and any other help file you may need on the subject, complete with their own forums.

Spyda, actually, that's not entirely true. I have backed up several games with CloneCD and I didn't need a patch for them... of course, these are games that are over 1 year old.. the copy protection is much more advanced (so they say) now...

i just tried to copy 3 games just out of interest, to see if they worked without a CD patch and how hard they were to copy.
GTA3, required a nocd patch to run, and got an error when installing. exited a lot during play even with the cloned cd in the drive Hitman 2, would not copy with clonecd, much easier than that, i copied all files to desktop and clicked on the setup file from the desktop, ran off the desktop. colin mcrae 2, this also required a nocd, even through clonecd i think the game companies are trying harder with the newer games |

Possibly, I did back up all 3 of those with Nero (latest version) with no problem. But, I did need the patch.

cant burn MOH AA dispite a few attempts at is, I use nero 5.5. Will make a copy of the game but once installed it wont recognize it as a lagitamte CD. "please enter MOH AA CD 1 into drive D:" sigh* nero works on some games ie: Max Payne and GTA3, but EA has implamented some good burn protection software. If there is a way around this with out buying new software please share.

- Efaustus, have you tried simply copying the entire contents of the MOH AA CD onto your hard drive and then burning that image to a disc?
- Also, I don't know if this will help but when I couldn't get copies of Morrowind to run (same problem as you: NERO would copy but the game would not recognize the CD), I searched the Morrowind CD and found a configuration file in text form and I noticed that on the CD it had instructions in it but in the copied image I made the text file was there but was blank. So I simply typed the exact same instructions that were on the CD into the text file on the image and BINGO!! The copy ran fine after that. |

you have to have the real disc to copy the games like this,
games my brother plays are all copies, cos he doesnt respect anything, he has the real games in his drawer, nice and safe in their cases, AND SCRATCH FREE!! Last edited by Spyda; 03-25-2003 at 05:08 PM. |

i should think that you may be able to get a replacement CD, cos you realy didnt pay to own the disc or the game, you payed for the license to install and use it on your PC. So if you can get hold of the right place/people, you could possibly get hold of a new disc for nothing, or maybe the price of postage

Those backups of your games you all made WILL WORK. You just need a no-cd patch. Enough about that...
