Graphics Card Slow Down

Hi All

I have just got NBA 2k3 on the PC and when I try and play it, it slows down so much and it is like the computer and graphics card cant handle it.

I have a 2.4 Pentium, with the ATI Radeon 9000 Pro (128MB).

Im just trying to download the latest Direct X drivers etc, but the only other thing I can think of is the graphics cards drivers?

I have tried the game on my brothers comp who has a 2.4 with a Geforce 64 mb graphics cards and it works extremely well, just like watching a real game!

I have tried to shut down ALL programs etc and also tried the different settings on the game as you are able to change the resolution etc, although even that hasnt helped.

Does anyone think that updating my graphics card drivers will help?

The only real difference is that Im running Windows ME and my brother is running Windows XP.

Any help would be appreciated......

Karl

What is your BIOS AGP aperture setting? It should be set at 128 or 256 depending on how much system RAM you have.

geez one person mentions AGP aperture size and now the whole forum mentions it after every post. your 9000 pro card in some games is actually worse than a ti4200, depending on what settings u have enabled... so if its horrible slow turn off some things or try a newer card.

also in some benchmarks your 9000 card is slower than a MX card, so on that alone i would say get a new card.

Where can you find out these benchmarks to compare against?

tomshardware.com is the best place ever if your really into computers go here and scroll to the bottom to the table of contents, if you check the quake 3 benchmark you will see the 9000 trailing the MX card.

Just to update you all, I tried installing XP and running the same game and the speed of the game was about 10 times better than it was using ME. God knows why, but it seems to have cured it.

what the hell are you talking about, that this card is actually worse than a Ti4200, you may want to check out those bench results yourself aswell

er, yea i am, sorry,

but he was totally wrong

I am afraid that with graphics cards, there is only a slight performance to be gained from overclocking etc, and the only resolution to the problem is getting a faster better graphics card

always sucks to realise theres no way to do it for free eh

well sorry but looking at the benchmarks from the link i provided shows that the ATI card wins some and loses some, so i am safe to say that it is slower IN SOME GAMES when compared to a nvidia card. geez settle down spyda, just look at the benchmarks

thats alright, just making sure to point out that the benchmarks show that the 9000 is a pretty bad card and i would recommend a new one
