Question Problem with Gamespy.

Hi all.

I have Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and the Spearhead expansion pack. I recently got cable and wanted to try acting as a server for the game. In the game I select “use Gamespy”. The game loads and people are able to connect if I give them the IP address, but no one can see the game listed in the Gamespy sever list.

I don’t have a router. I do have a Zone Alarm firewall. However both Gamespy and Medal of Honor are clear to do anything they want and people are able to connect with the IP address.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks.

When I WAS on cable,I would create rooms at gamespy and ppl wouldnt be able to see my rooms either and I also had my zomealarm up. So I f were you Id look into that as the problem since my brother's rooms were visible and he wasnt using a firewall. I know this wasnt much of a fix for you but at leat you know that its just not you.

I personally like using All Seeing Eye instead of gamespy.

http://www.udpsoft.com/eye/

Gamespy uses annoying ads and gives you higher pings whereas
Seeing eye is more stable with better pings. Seeing eye does not use spyware. It covers alot of different games.

Now to answer your question...the way you set it up is more for a lan server. People can connect if you give them the IP address.

From what I understand you have to register your server IP address for other gamers to be able to see your IP on a network.

Most servers out there are dedicated servers...in other words people rent game servers from gaming companies and pay monthly fees to host the game they want to play.

HTH
