I just got q3 today and installed it, run it, now the questions.
is there no support for a joystick, seams that all I can do with it is move around, I have to fire with the mouse, I don't like to use both hands to play a game, how do I get all the controls on the ms3dpro joystick ?

I don't think you can play the game with a joystick without reprogrammming or remapping buttons. I also think you're gonna short yourself on the game. I can't imagine a better control layout than the keyboard and mouse for this game.

Can't fully play a first person shooter without the mouse, I tried it with several gamepads and joysticks, and none compare.

Practice is the key, grasshopper .

Yes. You can't beat the good old mouse and keyboard for first person shooter games

I don't know if there is support for a joystick or not but in my experience quake 3 has played for me the best by using both keyboard and mouse. Left hand on the arrow keys right hand on the mouse. Anybody else do it this way?

thought that might be the answere I would get, not what I wanted to hear, I am over 58 yr old, and have a hard time keeping tract of what my left hand is doing when I am watching the monitor and doing things with my right hand
(playing the game) I know what you were thinking, anyway if there was some way to use the joystick like a flight sim , it would be better for me. I realy enjoy falcon 4-0, shooting dowm the migs, and blasting the ? in quake, but useing both hands is a handicap.

Believe it or not there is advanced joystick support for Quake 3. Check out this faq:

http://josefine.ben.tuwien.ac.at/~mf...oping/q3atfaq/

Great site actually...talks about joysticks in section 11. HTH

Floppyman-- I use a mouse/keypad configuration-- 7 = jump; 8 = forward; 9 = crouch; 4 = strafe left; 5 is backwards; 6 is strafe right. Then for UT I use 1 = drop relic; 2 = talk. This way I never need to move my left hand for movement.
