PSX emulator ok??

is it ok to use a Playstation emulator on my PC, if i own the original Playstation game?
one of my friends uses this emulator to play his games, and you have to use a proper PSX game to play them, it wont accept copied discs.
I would like to do this, as it improved both resolution and detial of the games, but i have not yet got it off him, as i dont want to do this if i am in some way liabling myself.

so, can i use this emulator?
is liabling really a word?

If you own a Playstation and a legal copy of the game... it's perfectly within your rights to use an emulator.

And no, liabling isn't a real word.

wow, the imporvements are amazing, the graphics are so much more smoothed, not blocky hardly at all, its like its got anti aliasing on, it makes it more detailed too, and one good thing is that you can change draw distance

So, you use the emulator, and put the PSX disc in your CD-ROM, and you can play it? I'd like to get my hands on this emulator......

i dont think its legal Spyda. If you want better resolution, use an AGP adapter that allows you to hook the PS2 to your monitor. Trust me, that is legal and it gives the same amount of detail.

Emulators are legal only if you use them, if you own them. it should be in the terms and agreement in the PSX emulators.

AWD,
a good PSX emulator would be BLEEM and there are others too.

im using Enhanced PSX Emulator
and my firend got it off kazaa as that was the only place he could find it, he was recomended it, and it is good!

and there are emulators for PS2, and they also require you to have an original copy of a game, i found a load on kazaa, the one i downloaded is only about 48kb, works like a charm

PS1 games are just CDROMs, so not too difficult to find emulators for.

PS2 and XBox games are DVDs, a bit more complex.

Only some of the PS2 games are DVDs... they're about half and half CDs and DVDs. Alot of the first games to come out were CDs. Alot of the larger games are in DVD format. Most of the time, if a PS2 disk is Black on the bottom... it's a CD. If it's silver it's a DVD.

In Kazza just search for “PS2” and sort the results by size. It’s the only emulator that is 48KB.

Are you serious? A PS2 emulator that is only 48Kb? Some of the most reliable places I know claim that there are none around.

Out of curiosity I got it, and it is passworded anyways.

Edit: Got another one that was 48Kb. I don't have any PS2 games to test it with, but it seems much to simple to emulate a PS2 Game. I would like to know what one Spyda has.

Guys, this is getting dangerously close to "warez" chat. Let's keep it respectable in here.

I think its all legal since Sony lost the lawsuit to stop the production of Bleem long ago... Bleem was a flop tho, sucky performance and very little compability. Anyways, hope the PS2 Emulation is going well for people, I dont have a DVD drive to play with but its okay.

Tiretool, it at first I thought that as well. But, these arent even really emulators in the sense of modding games and ripping. The one I have merely plays from the disc and will only work if you have the actual game. We're not talking downloading actual warez junk. Think of it as a realplayer download for the games we already have.

Actually ROMs are legal as well as long as you own the original cartrige... but then again, its all in that large grey area

I'm not so much worried about the emulators... just the talk about downloading stuff from Kazza. It's notorious for warezers. And I wasn't accusing anyone of anything... just a friendly reminder to everyone contributing to this thread to keep it respectable.

warez files are usually downloaded through proxy servers due to their illegal nature. Warez stuff includes hacked file passwords, pornography, upcoming unreleased movies, illegal rips of CD's and other stuff. Dont let it tempt you, its bad.

As far as I know, there is no PS2 emulator coz the ps2 hardware was too powerful for the PC to emulate.....I guess not yet.
That a food news for sony.
