I keep getting lots of pop-up ads during gameplaying thats getting really annoying (IE6 & XP). Is their a way to stop the ads from settings in the browser or computer settings? Besides pop-up ad killers. Getting bombarded with #$%! ads 3 so far in just writing this.
Thanx |

Try downloading Ad-aware and running that to see what it gets. Sounds like you have a baaaad infestation of ad-ware and spy-ware and that should clear things up for you. Also wouldnt help to clear the internet cache and maybe the cookies..
HTH http://www.adaware.com/ the link is on the left side |

do you have a western digital HDD? try disabling Gldli.exe (found in WINDOWS/Prefetch). That program can leak stuff into your HDD when you dont know it. Those progs should be illegal..

The Messenger pop ups should stop if Messenger is disabled, or they should stop when your firewall is active.
I get them when my router is off. Turnf it on, and they go away. I haven't disabled Messenger yet but should. These types of pop ups are taking advantage of a leftover net send feature of Win NT. I yours are happening when Messenger is disabled and your router is active, then they must be another kind. Ad-Aware is your next step. Run it frequently as well as deletion of your temp internet and cookie folders. |

Windows Messenger is the IM app that works with MSN/hotmail,and prebundled in Windows XP (and others).
MSN Messgner is the IM app you can download from MSN that also works with MSN/hotmail.it has more visual effects. Messgner is the build-in service that lets other machines in the network to talk to you. |
