Aiming is tricky.
What is the deal with aiming? I am continuously being beaten by monsters (even the rats!) because I can't manage to hit them. Even when my crosshair is over them and I punch my mouse button as fast as I can they always hit me while I can land a blow on them! What gives? TIA for the input.

I take it you just started. ;)
It is weapon proficiency not aiming. Choose a weapon in which you have the most proficiency. You will get the crap beat out of you in the beginning, so pick your fights wisely. The more you use your weapon, the better the balance and accuracy you will achieve. It takes a while to get a foothold in leveling, but do not worry, soon you will be killing things with your fists. Dont bother with weapons that require aiming like stars , bows, crossbows just yet. Get more training first. Go raid the vaults in Vivec then sell the weapons that you dont like to the mudcrab merchant. After that go find the training masters and train till you max out. Dagoth wont even see you coming when you fight him lol.
