it does for some newer games that use really high quality and complex textures, for instance I hear it is gonna be pretty much a must have for DOOM3

It wont be a must have for atleast a year I am guessing and even then I doulbt it. By the time you will notice a difference and you wont be able to its ever so slight they are not going to be using AGP slots I am guessing still.

Ok, with just a mobo change from an nforce1 (agp4x) to an nforce2 with agp8x, the last test I did with the nforce1 got me 9800 3dmarks.
Nothing changed but the mobo, and now this:
http://service.futuremark.com/servle...jectId=6342513

I am impressed.

Spyda, isn't PCI much slower? Also, I like the AGP slot. Its like a whole nother element of the MoBo. I would miss it if it were gone.

Ok the linky is brokey. Anyway if you get on the 3dmark site, it would tell you I got 11380. A big diff from my nforce1. Sorry abt the link, thought they would just show my stats, but noooooooooooooo.
Wolfster, the nforce1 has it all over the nforce2 in one area, that many people complain about. That area being IDE performance. I get about the same ide bandwidth, just a little less than my n1 (90MBs) while the n2 runs at 89MBs.
The real profound difference is in the ide burst, the n1 would do 180MBs, while the n2 only 90. This needs to be addressed by nvid. The nforcershq.com threads about the n2 are full of talk about the sorry ide performance, and how nvid needs to get better drivers out.
Are your drives shown as scsi in dev manager? What driver do you show, M$ or Nvidias?

Yeah that's what I am looking for. Care to do a passmark test and let me know what the drive read and write rates are, and the read and write under view after the test is done? If you click view, you can see the burst rates for read and write. Those are the numbers I am looking for here.

Passmark has a new test that lowers overall scores. I got like 354 and 552 in it last nite. In one bouncy ball test it ran like 1244fps... jeez.

Anyway I am looking to duplicate the n1's ide performance. Help me!

Perhaps I need to install M$ ide drivers....

See the "view" icon in the upper left of the test?
Look closely...

Exactly. That burst sucks, there isn't one at all. At the far left edge of the burst graph should be a spike, nearly vertical, that should be greater than 160. Truly, the nforce boards suck at ide.

Some ata133, huh?

Hmmm, just had a thought, perhaps a fast ultra160 scsi card and drive would kick much bootay... hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
