3DMark03 score
I just ran 3DMark03 and scored 3433. I am somewhat disappointed; I thought the score would be higher. Here is the specs; do you guys think that score is ok?

Probably about right... I get about 1200 on a P4 2.0, 512Mb, and an AIW Radeon 8500DV 64Mb.

3433 is not bad for 3DMark03. It's not like 02 where you could get into the 10,000s and above.

I'm glad you asked the question that I was wondering about too!
I recently put together a new system and was wondering what an average / decent 3Dmark03 benchmark score would be. I got around 3550 average over three to four seperate tests. I was a little shocked when I visited the benchmark homepage and found computers similiarly configured getting scores upwards of 6000. Are those "real" scores for average users or "rigged" numbers by powerusers trying to outdo each other? Thanks! SL (AthlonXP2200 on Asus A7N8Xdlx, 2X256KingstonPC2100DDR, ATIRadeon9500Pro, WinXPhomeSP1+, WDHD7200rpm8mbcache.) Last edited by SpiderLee; 04-22-2003 at 09:22 PM. |

That would be people with highly overclocked systems/Radeon 9700's getting huge scores.

1650...Would more RAM improve that?

Now I'm only getting 3350, but that's without disabling everything running in the background like system restore and network connections (what a pain to set back up).
From what I've read here on the forum, the GPU seems to be the single most important part of these tests. Increasing RAM would help a little I think, but getting a better video card (DX9 compliant for 3DMark03) should grant the biggest gain in scoring for the money from what I understand. |

Yup, the GPU is the main factor in the score that I have seen and adding 512Mb of ram made very little difference to my score. I had a Radeon 8500 in my system and then upgraded to the Radeon 9700 Pro and my score jumped 3250 points. The 9700 Pro running 10 runs of 3DMark03 @ stock settings it averages around 4550, with system tweaks, GPU and CPU OC’d I get around 4900.
