Aoe
What type of game would you classify AOE as; RTS?

Yeah. That's why I asked.
Hmm... now that I think about it, it's not really in "Real Time".

It's an RTS definitely.

Yes, most definitely RTS.
I don't think it fits anywhere else. |

yep . even now i play the original age of empires with my friends on lan once and awhile .
It was defenitely one of the very best rts games in its days and even the graphics were very nice back then. (i liked the way pple moved in that game, very 'realistic' for what was possible in those days. ) Another advantage is that the old one runs perfect on 486 pc's . i still have several of those in my house for extra multiplayer games.

There wasn't anything beyond the Conqueror's Expansion.
I liked the AOE games but after a while the gameplay bored me. I never finished the campaigns in AOK. Command & Conquer games are better IMO. |

There is Age of Mythology, which ads mythical creatures into your arsenal. Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds is built on the AOEII engine, and adds the dimention of aircraft. They are both a lot of fun, but I still go back to Conquerers, just because of the amount of people who play.

Lol! I sat there for a while thinking Age of Mythology, Age of Mythology, Age of Mythology,
i guess i was too sleepy. (hence the name) So anyway, AoM is a RTS 100%, so if Age of Empires is anything similar (which it is), its also a RTS.

I love SW: GB! My brother and I would have huge LAN battles, siding together against massive Imperial forces!

Maybe I'll pick it up. Are there any additions to the game besides new units?

A bunch of new campaigns, new civilizations (ie - Trade Tederation & Royal Naboo)
My favorite ship in the clone campaigns is the slowest one, but it packs quite a punch. It blows away a fortress in about 3-4 shots. ![]() I can't quite recall all of the differences between the two, though. Check it out on the lucasarts website. www.lucasarts.com |

Personally I think AOE has got to be one of the best games created one of my favoirites even better then age of empires 2. Age of Mythology is preaty cool though to I love the God Powers. Galactic Battlegrounds was fun too i loved the droid ball.. things. And finally Aces over Europe has got to be one of the timeless classics, it always crashed with my PI though
! But overall age of empires still is one of the best R.T.S games to play. Try it!
