Battlefield 1942 Mod
There is an unofficial mod out for Battlefield. Its called Desert Combat. This mod allows you to play all of the maps with modern war units! I've also heard rumor that a Baghdad Airport and a Baghdad map is coming out this week. Should be interesting.

Awsome mod. Its all we play nowadays. even the guys at www.ogn.ca play that at their Lan parties lol. Its also great for sales of the best game ever.

I played DC starting with version 0.2, and liked it then, but I'm taking a break from it in this version. Hopefully they'll improve balance a bit in 0.4, but it's a bit too spammy for my tastes with this version and the new tanks, mortars, C130, etc.

Yes, I have been playing DC for about 3 months. The 3.0 patch has many bugs, but its my favorite mod ever. Is there anyone who can get the suicide bomber to work?

Hey guys, I do 3d models for the mod, and we just released version 0.35. It's got a new map that's very fun, tons of balance changes, and several new models/skins.
Off topic here, but can anyone help me with my joystick? It's a Sidewinder Precision 2, and I can't get Win XP to auto detect it. It had been working fine for months, and all of a sudden decided to crap out. |

SW-14, is your joystick showing up under Control Panel - Game Controllers? Have you installed the latest version of the Sidewinder software? Have you tried calibrating the stick? According to Microsoft's web site, it's supposed to work fine under XP. I'd just try re-installing the drivers from Microsoft's web site and see if that helps.

Nope, it's not showing up. I know the USB ports are working fine, because I'm able to attach a digital camera to them. I've tried moving the joystick to different ports, but it still does not work. I may be wrong, but doesn't Win XP come with the Sidewinder drivers? My driver CD only has drivers for Win 98.

XP should require no outside drivers for the Precision 2. I use the same stick in Win2000 for BF1942 and it works fine without any external drivers. It doesn't need any configuration for BF1942 either, as soon as you start the game with it plugged in all you gotta do is map your keys.
If it's not showing up it's gotta be something wrong with the stick, something wrong with your USB drivers, or something wrong with the port. |

well. Eve Of Destruction for BF1942 is comming out soon.. its about vietnam.. should blow DC way.. im getting sick of DC been playing it sence its first alpha release.. Also im working on a new mod called Operation Overlord its based on the invasion of normandy. basicly 6 new maps (the beachs) and new weapons and vechiles and stuff liek htat.

Help
I have installed BF1942 and downloaded some mods. I install the mod then click on the desk top icon but it opens up BF and does not contain the new maps or look. The BF vesion is 1.0 and I do have the mod targetting the BF folder where it's installed. Please help I am at a loss.

First you probably should have made this a new topic.
To get to a mod you go to the top where all the various buttons are and click custom game, then all you do is chose the mod you want to play. If you're going to play online all you have to do is go to the multiplayer link and the game listings will have the mod icons next to them. Ohh, you don't have to open from the mod icon on the desktop. One last thing, if you're going to play online what is your name. I'm Morpheus 24. |

There is no custom game button. I'm assumming your talking about the buttons in the game. I don't need the latest pach, right?

It is in the start up menu. Just open BF and it should be along the top.
If you don't have the latest patch you should probably get it. |

Help
The computer freezes when I install the pach.
The only buttons on the top are Singleplayer Multiplayer Options Credits Intro. Then there's the quit button on the very top and the profile option to the far right. Last edited by SpikiestDog2; 08-21-2004 at 10:55 PM. |

This game kicks butt.
But, I am having a problem with multi player. We play BF1942 with no problems on our LAN, but the mod will not see the server. Is this a known problem? I checked the firewall settings and everything seems ok there. I can locate games on the internet but not the LAN. |
