The reason I'm upgrading my computer for this game, I can tell it's going to be great. Two more days until it's release. So who's playing and on what server?

Sam Havard: It's a MMORPG. You take the role of a bothan, human, mon calamari, rodian, transhodan, twi'lek, wookiee, or a zabrak. Then you must decide to follow a profession, which starts out with artisan, brawler, entertainer, marksman, medic, and scout. But, once you master one of these skills there are 25+ other professions you can go to. And you are not limited to just mastering that one skill. You can put points into any skill making you an all-around type character. There's even a jedi profession line (which is very hard to get.) It is going to be full of features, like pod racing, space travel, houses, vehicles and lots of other great stuff. You choose to be rebel or imperial, or maybe just neutral for a little while. This game is full of potential and we will see just how good it is tomorrow.

Hmm...word from many of the beta-testers is that SWG stinks..
Not to offend anyone, but it looks just as void of content as Asheron's Call II (*shudder*). |

From what I understand is that there are a lot of technical issues right now. I think the potential is there for the game, but a lot of nerfing and other fixes need to be made, not to mention extra content. I still plan on planning this game and decide for myself.

A close friend of mine is a beta tester. He's not getting it on release because:
1. It has a ton of bugs 2. It lacks content 3. It's just like beta testing but costs money |

NO CONTENT = NO FUN. UI sucks the gameplay is unbearable. The graphics are sweet. The missions are cool. The major problem there is NO CONTENT that is what makes or breaks a MMORPG and you would think that SOE would know that since they also make EQ.

To become a beta tester you basically apply for it on the web. They will ask you a series of questions such as hardware config of your PC, experience with that type of game, what type of tech background you have, how much you play games, etc etc. You will be put on the list and wait until they pick you name. Also you will have to aggree to a NDA before officaily becoming a beta tester. |

Issues with SWG right now:
1) No one really knows what they are doing, since almost everyone is new. 2) The UI is very challenging to figure out. 3) As far as things to do, it's very thin right now. They are going to rely on their expansions but they put the game out earlier then they would have liked due to the pressures of people wanting to it be released. These will help the game a lot. 4) Techinical issues, experience imbalences, and economic issues. Overall, the game may have been released too early. This game will be better in the future but right now it's having trouble. Another thing to keep in mind, when EverQuest was released it had techincal issues, had many patches and has had 5 expansions since the original release. Now EverQuest is amazing! It's too early to decide whether this game is going to be good or not but right now it's not what people were expecting. I for one have not played the game but am basing this response on the opinions of my friends who have played, my experiences with EverQuest and Dark Ages of Camelot, and other reviews on sites. I will be playing it soon and I think it's going to be great, lacking cotent or not. |

Word is there are ankle-high walls around some cities, but because you cannot jump in the game, you must find the separation between the walls.Sounds like SOE released it too soon.
