Ok, I know. I thought the same thing. Alice in Wonderland, Quake III style? Are you kidding?
But this game ROCKS! Just downloaded the demo (warning to dialup folks, over 70 megs), and have been playing a couple hours. The play is like Rune (3rd person shooter), but the visuals, sounds, and atmosphere of this game are damn near second to none. It has just enough strategy to make you think a bit, all very carefully mixed with a fight here and there. The Cheshire Cat, who follows you and gives you subtle hints, is very well done as well. I don't know what people will think of me back in UT and SoF, but I think I'm gonna be playin' Alice for quite awhile... http://www.alice.ea.com/main.html Xayd |

I was just wondering the same thing. I wanna say they look like worms, I dunno. Maybe I'll try to slice and dice one with that little knife Alice has and see what happens

Ok, you've got my curosity up and Electronics Boutique has this game on the shelves. I'm downloading the demo to see what all the hype is all about. I must admit, looking at the ads for this game in PC Gamer didn't impress me, nor did the game on display at EB but if you guys say it's so good I have to see for myself.

All I can say is "Wow!"
Very nice graphics, nice smooth gameplay, easy control layout (not too many different buttons to push), I'm buying it! Thanks for the tip guys! |

I finished getting the Demo lastnight and I played it.
It has great graphics and nice gameplay. Thanks for telling us about this Xayd, it was worth the download over my dialup. I'm buying it to TireT ! |

The Demo did impress me I must say.
Anyone esle notice this new theme for PC games? I.E. 3rd person fighting. Look at: Alice, FAKK, Severance, Rune, UO2, Shadowbane... more? |

Yeah, I've noticed it and kinda like it. First person is still the way to go for a true shooter, i.e. a game with guns, but with knives and swords and such, I think the third person view works much better.
I liked Rune, but Alice has been what Rune should have been so far. Rune had its flaws IMHO, but Alice is very well done indeed. Xayd |

The demo looks and sounds great. Take away most of the jump puzzles and add a minigun and a rocket launcher (a flame thrower would be great for this game with all the card people and all) and you have a pretty good game.

I played the demo, but I noticed some artifacts in the sound on my SbLive 1024 with Windows 2K. I tried different sound settings, but they all gave more or less troubles. Maybe it is better when I install new drivers for the soundblaster?
If anyone has the same problems, please let me know (I'm going out to purchase the game today.) |

I didn't have any sound weirdness under Win2k pro and my SB Live PCI512. I haven't updated the drivers, still using the ones that were there with 98FE, I upgraded to 2000.
I did see that Creative has updated 2000 drivers, about a month old, for these cards though, that might solve the problem. Xayd |

Hmmm, you could try running dxdiag and then disable the hardware sound emulation. If the sound is ok in the game after you do this then you might need to upgrade your sound drivers....

If I pick the default options it's ok. Not very good, but enough to live with. (I already upgraded my sound drivers)
