Intalled new video card - benchmarks
Yeah! I just installed my new ATI Radeon 9600 Pro and so far it seems to be working fine. I've played Team Fortress and Quake 3 for a bit and they are working fine.
I ran 3D Mark2001 SE off the PC Mech CD and here are the results. Now my question is...are these good? I have no idea what they mean Operating System Microsoft Windows 98 DirectX Version 9.0 Mobo Manufacturer Mobo Model 8363-686A AGP Rates (Current/Available) 4x / 1x 2x 4x CPU AMD Athlon(tm) XP/MP/4 1466 MHz FSB 133 MHz Memory 384 MB Graphics Chipset ATI RADEON 9600 Series Driver Name RADEON 9600 PRO Driver Version 4.14.01.9088 Video Memory 128 MB Program Version 3DMark2001 SE Resolution 1024x768 32bit Texture Format Compressed FSAA Disabled Z-Buffer Depth 24bit Frame Buffer Double Rendering Pipeline D3D Pure Hardware T&L Detailed Test Results 3DMark Score 8363 3D marks Game 1 Car Chase - Low Detail 101.8 FPS Game 1 Car Chase - High Detail 35.9 FPS Game 2 Dragothic - Low Detail 167.8 FPS Game 2 Dragothic - High Detail 92.2 FPS Game 3 Lobby - Low Detail 102.4 FPS Game 3 Lobby - High Detail 43.7 FPS Game 4 Nature 60.4 FPS Fill Rate (Single-Texturing) 951.5 MTexels/s Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) 1567.5 MTexels/s High Polygon Count (1 light) 27.7 MTriangels/s High Polygon Count (8 lights) 9.9 MTriangels/s Environment Bump Mapping 161.4 FPS DOT3 Bump Mapping 129.6 FPS Vertex Shader 127.6 FPS Pixel Shader 135.0 FPS Advanced Pixel Shader 114.8 FPS Point Sprite 15.3 MSprites/s

if you have broadband 3dMark03 is viable, however, if you have dial up, shake you fist at futuremark for making such a dialup unfriendly program, 170MB

Dialup unfriendly, How about just plain unfriendly. No outlets are really taking that program seriously anymore, seeing as they charge the manufactures to be members and help the development of the program. Of all the synthetic benchmarks out there, this is the most synthetic. Abosuletly no correlation between it an the real world, other than the money spent by ATI/Nvidia to make their products look better than they really are (not to mention the driver cheats to pad results).
http://www4.tomshardware.com/column/20030624/index.html Just play your games, and if you are happy does it really matter what fake number is applied to it's performance?..

Not bad. Your machine seems to be bottlnecking the card a bit, but no worries. You could still use the extra power for stuff like AA and aniso when you have it.
