You are lucky, I have played most every great game in the last few years, it is about all I spend my hardearned cash on. If you like RPG's and have ps2 get FFX, it will take up a good 60 hours. On computer you can pick up No One Lives Forever 2 at Circuit City for 10.99. Also try Morrowind and the baldurs gate, I always use to hate games like that, but after giving them a chance, I now like them alot.

I think I played one game in FF, 3rd version if I remember correctly and after screwing with the controls and killing dumbass monsters that looked like clones or that had resurrected, I said, nope.

Mafia is great, you might also like Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City. Neverwinter Nights is excellent. Splinter Cell like all of Clancys games lacks realism. Like you can't go up a mountain straight up over rock...you have to go in a round about way...you can't slide down the mountain either.

Just my thoughts.

I would say check out Battlefield 1942 for a good FPS. Also, look at Age of Mythology for a good strategy game.

Mafia is great, you might also like Grand Theft Auto 3 and Vice City.
So you get in a car of which there are 30 duplicates in street and hit people all of which are clones or have been resurrected.

I hope you can laugh along with this one. I am not much of an RPG person either, but I think your reasons are just plain funny.

splinter cell is pretty linear, but has big explorable levels at the same time, although its still get to here and do this.

Mafia is so much better than the two GTAs, either of them, mafia has some real character about it, in fact, i may install it and play it again cos its so brilliant

GTA VC is a real fun game, much better than the depressing gloom of GTA3, which was ok but got boring, it was always black skys and rain...

i would definitely say rather than GTA VC get Mafia, its more enjoyable and you really get engrossed in the story

omg, i should have said Vice City, but i assume everyone has had it and beat it. I got %100, it is one of my favorite games ever. I wasn't alive long in the 80's but it brings back memories that i don't have, its just like so many 80's movies, its great. BTW, I love all of the FF and have them all (along with about all Square games), but FFX has the best story, it was done very well like a movie, and it plucks the heart strings(as said in EGM). Splinter Cell is cool, but I have mixed feelings. I have it on XBOX and beat it, but it wasnt a game I could play for more than an hour at a time, but I don't know why. And if you don't have halflife or deus ex, get them. I just picked up 2 HL platinum packs at fry's for my friends, $15 bucks each.

Gotta admit theres a major difference between running up to somebody and hitting them with a baseball bat to death and everyone around screaming I know what you mean tho

Is Vice City that much better than GTA3?
What is different about Vice?
What sets Vice above GTA3?

I played GTA3 but I stopped at the third island.
I never picked up Vice because I ODed on GTA3.
But, is Vice worth playing for someone sick of GTA3?

Well I would give both of them 10's on reviews, but vice city has such a better aura around it. I think overall it is alot more fun to play, taking place in Miami and with all the 80's music.

It was more like a addon, if you didn't like Doom, you wouldn't have liked Duke Nukem kinda thing. And thats really what it boils down to.

i played gta3, mafia and vice city (in that order) and i find it a hard pick to choose the best between mafia and vc.
mafia's storyline is indeed odfather-like,
colors and esp characters are better than vice city or gta3 . but it dont find it replayable, once you finish it once, that's about it, the 'special ride' kinda sucked i think.

vice city is really much more fun than gta3, which was a bad console port (like so many others) . the general feel is much better than 3 and i liked the story line a lot better. and the bikes are great
and the damage model of cars is quite nice too in vc, much better than in 3.
in mafia the cars deform really cool and all but in vc allmost everything can come off a car, and the tires are a lot better now.

the thing that i like least about vc are the character's faces, they are totally not up to date.
and 3d rims would have been nice.
(i cant get that 3d wheels patch to work grrrrrr)

In Vice City, you get to fly hellicopters, ride motorcycles and boats. Better graphics, i think. It is hella fun!

Nuke's rule of computer gaming: "a good storyline is the prime requisite for immersiveness".

Corollary: "the immersiveness is directly proportional to the richness of the storyline".

In a word: if a game's storyline sux, the game sux.
