next gen games?
When are there coming out? how many games are coming out this year? Does it really need that much GPU power?

You'll be able to play HL2 fine. The original poster needs a new card though. You'll even read HL2 is no doom3 in the graphics department. Really interactive environments and good looking to boot, and a 4200 is still a pretty good card.

AFAIK the next generation of DX9 games will start to hit the shelves this holiday season.

i think people are just OVER exaggerating, the cards out now will prolly be more than capable of playing the games flawlessly. space, yes that seems like something that might be a problem, but the game producers dont want to make games where the average person cannot buy and play them.

I'm a beta tester for final fantasy XI...
that requires 6GB of free hard drive space.. I think my first computer had 2GB total! as for graphics, It still looks great even on my geforce3 (1024x768 no goodies on.. but it runs smooth) I can't imagine what it would look like if I had a 9800pro I bet I would never leave my computer. (except to go get some diapers and pop-tarts once a month) |
