Please help

I am unfamiliar with all the features and options associated with my video card, for example what is vertical sync?

I installed the game planetside, and it's running choppy. You can see by my specs that it shouldn't, so I'm thinking I need to tweak the video settings. The only problem is that I don't know what I'm doing...can anyone help?

Thanks.

PlanetSide is a bit buggy still so you will have some choppiness until they get the thing fixed up. I play the game with the pc in my sig but I only get choppiness in HUGE battles.

If you use the quick reply field, you must check the "Show signature" box for your sig to appear.

You should turn vertical sync on if you have it off if your montior can't handle the refresh rates the game will look really choppy.

So I should try to turn vertical sync on and if it's really choppy turn it back off?

What are other options I can turn on/off to make it not choppy?

Iv got a ATI card and use the follow options for v-sync. The settings for a Nvidia should pretty much the same, I havent owned one yet.

OpenGL - Wait for Vertical Sync - Defauilt Off
Direct3D - Wait for Vertical Sync - Application Preference

If you want too u can also disable Anit-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering iv set mine to.

OpenGL - AA - Application Preference - 2X
OpenGL - AF - Application Preference - 2X

Direct3D - AA - Application Preference - 4X
Direct3D - AF - Application Preference - 2X

the vertical sync syncs limits your FPS to match your monitors refresh rate..
so if your monitor is running at, say, 68 Hz, then your games will be limeted to 68 FPS.
enabling it will help get rid of some choppiness in certain circumstances.. but if low framrates is your problem, this won't really help.
