Damaged CD :(

I finally succeded in reinstalling Road to Rome back on my Pc . The problem I had is that the kids got a hold of it and did some major damage to it. It took me aboot 4 hours to get it reinstalled (did a reformat). My original question is How do I install the game in the PC and not have to use the CD again. Im worried that when I start gaming itll miss stuff and then crash. cheers

If the CD is still readable you can make a copy of it and use the copy instead of the original.

Two options, have you tried a cd scratch repair tool? They are pretty comon and their was a thread about ehm a month or so ago. If you got the game installed then it can not be a total loss.

Have you contacted the game company, a trade for a nominal fee is usually allowed.

Finally, have you tried copying the contents of the CD to the hard drive and installing from their and if it works do can you copy this back to a CDR? I know that often there are security devices built in that makes this difficult (And rightly so) but you may have a burner with the right tech to allow it.

CloneCD will make a working image of that RtR CD, you can mount it as a virtual drive with Daemon Tools and never have to use the CD again.

And yes in the meantime if you email your CD key and a pic of the box to EA I think they'll send you a new disk.

If you damaged it you may have to pay a small fee. It's small though. I bought Civilizations III and the disk developed a crack that was spreading from the inside out. I emailed Infogrames and said I couldn't reproduce the crack on any old CD-R's and they sent me a new one.
