Counter-Strike Install Problems.. - Revisited
I swiped my hard drive yesterday (because my comptuer was just in a wreck) So I installed Windows XP again. Then I remembered as I was installing counter-strike that the last time.. it was a pain getting it to work.. (oh great!) (i have CS the version where its just counterstrike i never had half life....)
So I dug up my old thread on this.. followed the advice given then... and .. what do you know.. it doesn't work.. So I went to www.counter-strike.net got that 121mb patch that I was missing but it said I need to install it in the half life directory... (so what exactly is this directory.. because I cant find it..) I browsed around a while... and was never able to find it... so I tried installing it a few different ways but no luck... iI also tried another 8mb patch but that wouldnt install either... I'm lost (as usual) again with this udated patch needing to be installed... any help would be appreciated thanks....

Unlucky...
It sounds like you've got retail version, and you may have downloaded the wrong patch if its asking you to install it in the half life directory. I just looked at Cs.net and the 121 meg DL is for the mod version, so it won't work with your copy. The file you need is the retail version at 115megs. The mod version path is c:\SIERRA\Half Life\Counterstrike and the retail version is c:\SIERRA\Counterstrike\CS |

yeah where can I find the 115 mb file... because i keep finding the 121... yeah I remember something like that the first time i installed it... thanks....
