Configuring vice city

Ok, here's the deal. When I play vice city I put it on a res. of 1280x1042 32 and leave the frame thing on, cause when I turn it off things pop in and out and it bugs me. Now when I'm playing and a lot of stuff is going on it is beginning to be choppy ex: when it rains at night. I have a brand new pc which I built, and I should not be having any slow down...or should I? My specs are listed below when I post. I'd like some feed back on if my pc is up to snuff and what I should do to make vice run nicely with eye candy turned on. Thanks.

I put it on that res. cause that's the maximum my monitor supports.

what audio hardware do you use in game? (its in the audio options. )
i have an abit nf7-s, athlon2200+, gf4ti4200 128mb 8x .
if i choose the eax, everything has too much echo to my liking and i have much more stuttering in game too. i set it to one of the other options (try out wich one works best for you) and it solved my problem completely.

hope this can help

yep just checked and the software emulated sound gives the best speed ingame here too. i play the game only on headphone, so i dont know if that sofware sound is any good on speakers for you guys . (i find it better than that hollow eax sound anyway.)

Hey, thanks for the advice. I dont have a sound card, i'm just running off the integrated audio on the motherboard. I tweaked my vid card settings and now it's running as smooth as silk, and looks good too.

How does the sound in game appeal to you spyda? it seems like too hollow for me, i think too much echo or so. with the other settings i just like it better, although its just stereo (i play with headphones most of the time anyway)

my nf7s has onboard soundstorm audio, but from what i've heard the quality isn't much less than an audigy (that's why i've setlled with the onboard audio. )
