Battlefield 1942 problems
Hi,
I just bought bf1942 for 7.99 preowned what a deal!!! I installed the game ok, but when i go to play the land comes up in blue and the colours are really dodgy, this could be because im using SIS 630/730 onboard graphics so would switching back to my old tnt2 32mb card work???? Would that allow me to play the game or do i need a new graphics card??? Thanks |

The game requires 32megs of video ram, but it has to have Hardware Transform and Lighting, which TNTs do not have. So I would try an upgrade. The Geforce 3 from tigstah is a good card. Otherwise I woul recommend an upgrade to a Geforce 4 Ti4200 if you are on a budget. Going up the price ladder, check out the Radeon 9600Pro, 9700Pro and the 9800Pro. All of these cards will run BF1942 very well.

ATI Radeon 9000? It would be able to play but you would have some serious lag

9000 is basically the same as an 8500, which I played the game with just fine.
You won't be able to run at 1280x960 or higher, but you can play ok with those cards at 800x600 or 1024x768. |

It will work just fine. The Radeon 9000 is certainly not top of the line, but it is a fine gamer. A friend of mine plays Battlefield on the same card, and he doesnt have any complaints.

I think the Radeon 9200 is sold for the same price as the 9000 or you could go with a 64mb geforce fx 5200 for a couple more dollars.
