Talking Counter-Strike

Lets just say I do not have the best computer these days.

- Amd Athlon 1.30 GHZ
- 512 SDRAM
-Geforce 4 MX400 64mb PCI

I recently bought that geforce4 after having to use my onboard S3 ProSavage... which was way outdated . After buying the geforce 4 I have been able to play about any game that I want to smoothly and without problems. But my problem is with the game I play most, Counter-Strike. The problem is that i suffer random frame loss. My max fps is 60 and I almost never get that because my fps is bouncing all over the place. It usually drops down to about 30 all the way down to 12 sometimes... I know my computer is considered outdated by now but my friend has counter-strike and he randomly loses frame loss from about 100 down to 60 at times. He has quite a good computer by my standards. ATI RADEON 9700, AMD ATHLON XP 2.08 GHZ, and 768 of RAM. Is there a solution to this random frame loss? Thanks

have you tried going into a server and typing in FPS_MAX 99? Just to see a little better of your fps, also did you upgrade your drivers for that Geforce? I have the Video card as well on my HP and my fps in CS also bounces that card is a pretty good card but its not all that great. Try updating driver may help a bit on your fps.

Considering that is how most players in cs type, I was positive that you would understand.
In this case, you might be in need of a refresh rate fixer, one such fix is NVRefTool. There are others.
Cs still teh suxorz...

For ReForce www.pagehosting.co.uk/rf/ , you can download a good refresh rate fix program there.

I have never heard of a Geforce 4 mx400, i have only heard of 420, 440 and 460 for the mx line. Are you sure you dont have a geforce 2 mx400?
