Upgrading PC

My PC's only a year old, but i have problems running games like midnight club 2 on it so I was wondering if i should get a entirely new system or just upgrade parts of it.

Currently running on a: 1.30Ghz celeron 1300Mhz, 384 MB of RAM, Geforce2 MX 200 video card. Windows XP home edition.

I was thinking of getting a 128MB video card and some more RAM. Any other suggestions?

upgrade the video card to see the biggest improvement, although a celeron isnt as tough as a P4 for games

A PIII of the same speed would be a very good thing for that computer. It has double the cache on the chip. However, PIII chips are still popular for servers, so they are still pricey for their speed.

You could look in to getting a GF4 ti4200, which would majorly improve your gaming experience. I think that you have plenty of RAM in that system, already. If anything, you could sell the 128mb chip, and pick up a 256 to replace it.

Also, is your hard drive 5400rpm or 7200rpm? If its 5400 RPM, that's going to be a major bottleneck on that system.

128MB is only just starting to be touched into being used by games, and to play the games that would make full use of that or more, youd need a 3.2Ghz monster, i.e, for half life 2.

Know anywhere to get cheap SDRAM? Cuz I don't wanna drop $60 on getting memory for my System if it's not gonna inprove performance much. Also What does this mean:

32 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz

All I know is it has to something to do with the speed of the proccesor.

Spend more money on the video card than anything else. It will significantly increase your gaming performance.

I agree with finding a P3 instead of the celery. However for the price of a P3 you could get an AMD XP CPU, a top motherboard, the ram and a decent video card.
The GFORCE MX is also a poor performer in my mind, with just about any ATI Radeon based card outperforming it.
