Half_life2=$2500computer?
Ok, like most ppl, I have been waiting patiently for HL2.
But my problem is that I will need a computer built for the gods 2 play it(...they say), that may not be a problem for some ppl, but to me this doesnt mean its gonna be a kickass game, but but its going 2 cost me MONDO amounts of money in order 2 play this game ,(and games like this in the future). so what kinda computer do i realy need and with what in order 2 play it? Asus P4b533/Celeron 2.0Ghz/128Mb ddr/GeForce 2MX400128/10Gig HD(temperary till 120)/(all this is temperary) |

Upgrade memory and video and you are back in business. The 2.0 Celeron should do just fine.

From what i've read about it so far, you will still be able to play the game if your computer isnt exactly top of the line, however you won't see all of the effects that you would with a higher end system. Maximum pc had a big right up on it with a comparison of how it will look on different systems. You might want to check it out.

All that really matters is having a 1.8Ghz processor at least 512DDR RAM and a kick ass video card. From your sig all you need to change is what CaptTUNA said.

They came out with they recommended specs not to long ago. I can't recall what they are. Your gonna have to do what every other gamer out there is currently doing...upgrading. I know, it sucks, no money.
IMO update your RAM. From my guess HL2 will be RAM hungry. Then you video card next. Get at least 512 mb of RAM since your on a tight budget. Then i would go with a Radeon card. I'm not sure which card will give you the biggest bang for you buck. But if you search the forum i'm sure there is hundreds of posts describing just that question. Or if you wait long enough, someone will come by and answer it here. The comp i am currently running would be unable to support HL2 at max speed...which ofcourse i want. But i have been saving up for a while and my rig is gonna cost nearly 2500...that is monitor and all. I'm not really doing it for HL2 though, i need an editing machine. Good luck man, you got till Sept 30th...or the "Holiday Seasons of '03" |

For a video card get at least a Radeon 9500 or better, that is if you want to play it with high detail.

look for a copy of the maximum pc august 2003 issue.
They have a good article on what is needed. Bottom of the line to still play the game is a TNT2, Rage128, Voodoo5 card. Of course there will be very little 'eye candy' at that level |

A video card upgrade will allow you to turn on a lot of the higher detail settings. The Geforce will play the game, just not in its full glory. I would grab at least a 256meg RAM stick, 512 if possible. That will help not only in games but general system performance. After that, grab a better video card. The 9500Pro or 9600 Pro will be great additions to your system.

If you want HL2 to have good detail buy another video card. If you just want to be able to play HL2 with low graphics stick with your current card.

Your card is very good. It is the equivalent of a Geforce 4 TI4400 the only difference is that your is 8x AGP. It should do goood in HL2
