Unhappy

Whenever there is something moving fast on my screen (like in games and stuff) the screen "splits", in sections, it's really hard to explain. It's not a serious problem but I never noticed it until a while ago and its annoying.
I dont know if it has to do with my refresh rate, Direct X, my video card or what.
it happens if you say, turn fast in a FPS game and then like youd notice a door or something get split in two horizontally until it "catches up".
I have a Sony Multiscan e200 Trinitron monitor, a Voodoo 5500, P3 500 MHz, 7200 RPM HDD.
I use 32 bit color, and 800x600-1024x760 Resolution.
Can anyone help? thanks.

If VSync is disabled you sometimes get weird things like that, but it's an instantaneous effect. Unless you're looking for it you rarely notice. Check the settings of your game, see if you have it turned off.

Also, what games does it do this in, what OS are you running, and what Direct X version?

smokin

I used to get weird effects like that when turning in FPS until I figured out what smooth mouse did. Try enabling that in the game options and see if it makes things any better...

Mouse smoothing helps cover slow mouse refresh rates (use a PS/2 and overclock it or, a USB mouse to fix it in all games). Anyway I think that problem is unrelated. You may have to see what's being talked about to understand it. It actually looks like a cheap motion blur, or a ghost picture. Try enabling verticle sync or Vsync.

You might also try DX 8. It improved frames per second and reduced dropped frames for me, both in Win98 and Win2000 Pro.
