I should have known but I really wanted the demo for Pontifex Maximus so I downloaded it from Gamespot, something I've never done before.
Since I still had to get out the door I just checked a few news sites and left after I did that this morning. I get home to comp that won't load XP, and it's been well behaved for weeks. Guess what caused it? Kontiki seems to be a particularly intrusive species of spyware. Get you demos off the CDs that come with computer mags. Why is it legit to do stuff like this to your customers ?

I'm sure they inform you of it in the EULA or some such agreement, so it's not *really* spyware.
