looking for PCI video card users

Look we all know that agp has taken over the video card world. Dont jump ship just yet the pci bus is being overhauled to pci express check out the ati and nvidia websites to see how they are changing to support the new bus type. So unfortunatly even agp users will soon be forced into the same situation as those who made the unfortunate mistake of buying a pc without a agp slot. buying a new mainboard the next time we wish to upgrade our video cards. This new type of video card is still in development so agp users are more than likely safe for a bit. I feal for the users who do not have a agp slot. There is little to no information about pci cards out there and it is very difficult to find a great pci card. check the ati and nvidia sites and they dont even mention pci cards made in the last two years. So if anybody out there has a pci video card please post what ya have and you overall satifaction of the card.

I bought an ATI Radeon 7500 PCI by mistake when I built this system. The AGP and PCI were the same price and right next to each other on the Googlegear listing. When I realized what I had, I just deceided to keep it rather that go thru the exchange stuff. I don't do any gaming and I'm currently using a 17" CRT. For my uses it's worked fine. I've watched some DVD's on here and I do quite a bit with digital photos and the video has been excellent.

Not sure what type. You'd have to check ATI's web site maybe for that, but it's listed as a 64Mb card.

Thanks panama, I am very interested in knowing if there are any users out there with 128mb ddr pci cards. i am pretty sure that nvidia and ati both have one or more of these cards out there. I have found that most card listed are 64mb sdram and ddr.

I found some pci cards with 128mb ddr memory listed on www.pricewatch.com so i figured i might as well post them here maybe someone here has one of these and can tell me if they are satified with it or if they had any issues with installing it. so here is the list of both ati and nvidia cards.

if ur a gamer, do NOT get a 5200 fx

read some reviews on that vs a radeon 9200 pci and read the results for ur self

My second system (was my first system until august) uses a PNY Geforce 420 PCI with 64 mb SDRAM. I bought it a looong time ago and it has been serving me very nicely for more than 2 years. Props to Nvidia for making a decent PCI card.

I currently use a PCI vid card in mine. The pny one is the second I purchased, the first was from a fly by night "expo" sale that crashed on me with in mins of playing any game. The Pny has stood up pretty well, I was very surprised when I played CS and DOD that I could compete at a average level.

My old computer had a built in ATI graphics card on the mainboard, but at that time I knew nothing about computers and the salesman tricked me into buying a pci card for graphics acceleration as well (Back around 1998 or 1999).
The built in card was ATI Rage Pro, with I think 64MB RAM (I don't know if that was DDR, but probably not), and the pci card was a Creative Savage 4. Both only provided 2X acceleration, and were not much good for games, but I did manage to run D2 on my old computer. Although I could not run Shogun Total War without the PCI card, there were still errors when I tried to run it with the card especially during certain scenes or when there were too many warriors on the screen.

Just wondering, isn't the pci express something new-different with the current pci slot. I think it will be at least two years. AGP 8x not that fast enough? I have abandon pci since changing to gf2ti.
