Anyone tried the FFXI benchmark? Is it worth the 60MB download?

I scored 5140 on High Resolution
The one thing I really don't like about this benchmark is that when it's done the program just quits on you. So you don’t get any kind of results page. If your on a slow connection I wouldn't download this benchmark it wasn't that great. 0 to 1500: Your Computer is not good enough to play Final Fantasy XI. 1500 to 3000: Your PC is just powerful enough to play Final Fantasy XI. 3000 to 4000: Good, You will experience little or no lag time at all when playing the game. 4000+: Excellent! This number is the best! It means you will not be experiencing any lag at all. Last edited by Northernwinds; 09-28-2003 at 10:12 AM. |

I got a 5224 on High Resolution and I agree the program just exits out so if your not looking you will miss the score. Unless you are a huge fan of the game I wouldn't bother with it.
Two thumbs down |

I got a 5389 with my system on High Res. Sleepypost, I think it's an online-only game so no single player.

I've been beta testing FFXI for about a month now and it is very good. Its very similar to Everquest except its in the FF world. It runs perfectly smooth on my system (check the sig) and it runs well on my friends system (1.1ghz, 512 pc133, gforceti4200) So i doubt anyone here would have a problem with it unless your on dial-up. I havent tried it on dial-up but i can only imagine how slow it would be, but im on cable and the beta runs without lag.

No, it's a graphical benchmark to see if you can run the game with all/minimal/no details.

That's great Red. According to the categories above you were exceptionally high and should have no problem running the game.
