Better system = worse FPS in games!?

from a 2000+ and 2x256MB (single channel) and a A7V333
to a 2500+ (varified at 1.83GHz) 1x512MB Crucial PC2700 and A7N8X deluxe (BIOS C1006 Rev 2)
i lost 5FPS in UT2003 and 8 in BF1942.

i have disabled fast writes in the BIOS and disabled AGP 8x and used every driver for the nforce (nvidia's and asus's) and 3 different (45.xx 44.03 41.09)nvidia drivers, but i cant get back those 5-8FPS in games set on even lover detail!.

i reinstalled XP *Formated* too. i have all updates for windows, (DX 9b) and all patches for games. why am i gettin 6FPS less in UT2003 even with all extras turned off?! i do have the newest AGP driver (from Nvidia's nforce driver).
GF4 MX440 PNY (it got 51FPS before! not only 45!)

I also get mini micro freezes when i play the game and the sound jolts. happens when i updated the sound drivers too (SB live 5.1 platnium)

I had the same software as before (DX9b, windows updates, patches for games etc.)

I don't know why you get worse FPS but I know I wouldn't put a GeForce 4 MX440 in that system. It's a major bottle neck.

Ya... make sure you get a Video Card that suits your system better... That's where I faultered I think Not that the Ti4200 is bad, but Radeons are looking oh so appealing these days

The Ti 4200 is one of the best mid priced cards. It is on par with many readeons.

Ok have you verified that your mem timings have helped and not hurt performance? Ya gatta bench to be sure, before and after. Same for the vid card, always bench before and after you oc.

If you are positive the nforce mobo has issues, can you go back to the via board? I would in this instance. Then maybe you can trade the asus for a used 9500???? Have you looked around in nforcershq.com for help on nvid mobos?
The nforce looks great in benches and on paper, but it has many issues, sound being one, memory incompatibilities, and so on along with your pauses in games.

A 266A (or later) chipset from via is still a righteous setup....
