DirectX 8

Can I use directx as a 3d accelerator? What exactly is DirectX? I have a 64mb SDR Geforce MX400 video card, but its not a 3D card, im trying to see if I can substitute with directX.

Hi,

first: Your card is a 3D card, so you don't use DirectX as a 3D accelerator.
DirectX is a set of instructions that allows the program to communicate with the graphics card in a similar way like the old DOS programs had direct hardware access.

Anyway, if you had a pure 2D card, forget about emulate all the 3D stuff with software, it won't run fast enough.
