Question PC vrs. Xbox and PSX2

I currently have a Xbox and PSX2 because some games aren't available on one or the other. Most games are available on the PC and are much cheaper. I'd like to start playing games on my pc, but I usually only play sports games like Madden, Tiger Woods, NBA Live, ect. I've downloaded demo versions of these games, but they are no where near the quality and gameplay of PSX2 or Xbox. What components do I need to upgrade to make them similar to playing on a PSX2 or Xbox? I know that I need to upgrade my video card, and I have ordered a ATI AIW 9000 pro card already. Is that going to be enough, or will I just rather play on the PSX2 and Xbox?

I built this pc, but I am a newbie. I put a XP 2200+ processor with 512mb or ram, and a 80g hard drive. It's a cheap system, I know, but how far do I have to upgrade to be able to have a pretty good gaming experience with sports games? Is it even possible to play games like Madden on a PC with the same graphics and control of a PSX2 or Xbox? Please, somebody help me.

Nothing wrong with the 9000 Pro but if ya want better graphics go for the higher end cards starting at 9600 Pro and up.

If you don't want to use your keyboard and mouse to play Madden 2004 on your PC (I wouldn't), then get a game controller. They're very similar to the controllers you use to play PS or Xbox with. I believe they just plug into a USB port.

I personally like computer games a lot better than console games, Most of the time. There are a couple games I'd rather play on my PS2 but not many. I also think that the graphics look much better on my PC than on my PS2. But I have a very nice monitor and a very decent video card, which helps a lot.

Since you have the radeon 9000, I don't know how the difference will be. I have the 9500pro so there is a difference there.

So to have the same control as a console, go out and buy a game controller for your PC.

Actually radio shack has an adapter you can get that connects to your PS2 controller and the other end is a usb connector, it works very well, then you just assign the keyboard/mouse buttons to the PS2 controller. This way you dont have to buy a junky imitation ps2 controller.

Thanks for the help. I forgot to mention that I do have a gravis game pad.

I'm more concerned about the games having lag or being too slow. Is my pc fast enough? I don't have a great monitor so I don't expect the graphics to be too great, but gameplay without lag is what I do want to have. I think I will go get a convertor for my ps2 controller too. The gravis pad kind of sucks.

Ummm most sports games are very power-demanding. The only thing you can do to improve gfx is go into the options and change settings.

There shouldn't be a problem with your built. It will do fine.

With some tweaks or adjusting the game gfx setting I'm sure you can get the game to a playable state, but I can assure you it will still wouldn't match the console's 60fps unless you can dish out a lot of money for the latest and fastest hardware out there for a superior built.

By the way I personally like PS2 games coz no need to worry about lagging or hardware upgrade plus no installation needed.
Also you only need 1 dvd per game and unlike PC,u need at least 3-4 disc ofr some game to install and I hate to swap disc!!
