Final Fantasy XI
Anyone going to get this? I love Final Fantasy games and rpgs in general, but have never played a MMORPG. I am seriously thinking about getting this game, but I can't really decide. Any opinions on it are much appreciated, Thank you!

I tried a MMO rpg before ( Everquest) and didnt like it personnaly. FF has made great games in the past but MMOrpg's sometimes lack the content of offline fun. Look at StarWars Galaxies, so far thats a flop. 12,95$ a month
 thats like 20$ canadian. wow http://rpgvault.ign.com/articles/454/454284p1.html If theirs offline playing also and it would be free Id get it. I dont play enough to validate paying that much for a game.

Yea, see my problem is that I dont think I would have enough time to play it constantly, maybe if i got it in the summer and all my friends dissapeared it would be cool. It would probably still be pretty fun even if i only play a few hours a week though.

I beta tested FFXI and it is pretty good, much better than star wars: galaxies i thought. There is no offline mode as it is a true MMORPG. It was a great game but i dont plan on getting it, I got too burned out on the beta. But it is very fun and id recommend for anyone who likes mmorpg's.

My brother pre-ordered it like a month ago so he's psyched to get it. I like the FF series but don't really like the whole MMORPG experience. I'm sure I'll try it out though. Looking forward more to FF X-2 and eventually FF XII.

Well I went and preordered it at EB and will pick it up tommorow. I use to be so against the whole MMORPG thing and now I reserved one, I guess I am now a hypocrite and about to lose my social life

Its very fun and addicting, before you start up the game it gives a warning that, not to let the game interfere with your personal life.

Ya my friend was a beta tester and I got to make a character. I thought it was fun but never got to addicted since whenever he wanted to play I had to get off... still haven't found a game I would pay to pay...

the final fantasy series is the greatest RPG series i love RPG's. ive never tried a MMORPG but im planning on getting it because i have never really been disappointed in an RPG (although FFX was a little lacking in the difficulty section :/ ) in the FF series. so hell yeah im getting it and im betting it OWNS!

What platform will these games be on? Playstation?

It's coming out first for the PC (ships today actually) and later for the PS2, but the two will play together online.

I'm not getting it. Despite being a FF fan. Not into MMORPG. Too time consuming. Need to pay to play. I thought the game is enough, now a subscriptiopn fee. No.

We'll probably check it out since my fiance is a big FF fan and I've been enjoying the games, myself. Only thing I don't like is you pay the same price you pay to play EQ, but EQ lets you have numerous characters. For that same price you can only have one FF character. : /

So-but still I do not have that muchh time- Better not play- then get hooked- then being a fanatic. Did anyone read the article about the Ragnarok online game.. I do not want to be like those who play it all the time

Most MMORPG's have subscription fees, this is nothing new. Its only new to Final Fantasys. Almost all MMORPG's have subscription fees, thats nothing to complain about. And after playing over 100 hours on both FFXI and Everquest, I'd definatley recommend FFXI, its just that much more fun.

8 was not that good. Better off playing Thousand Arms or Grandia series. I think its the stupid DRAW system-where you draw magic from yor enemies. Still not compelling story. I tried to finish the game-playing 4 times. BUt up to the last cd- got very bored. I completed 7,9,X, tactics. Now where is tactics for the PS2
