No war games? Eh, go for Battlefield 1942 with the Desert Combat mod! It's the best FPS out there! The online multiplayer games are excellent.

I didn't like SOF2 much. It's not realistic. I mean, how can a guy without a head keep on screaming in pain?

If you like Alice, you may enjoy Nocturne. It came out a few years back but it's still an enjoyable game and you can get it pretty cheap. Vampire, The Masquerade comes to mind as well. The original Unreal had a full storyline, like Half-Life. It's also as old as Half-Life as it came out the same year but if you haven't tried it I think you might enjoy it. If I think of any others, I'll post them.

Thanks everyone, just to add, I prefer games like Tomb Raider (over the shoulder camera) but the control system on tomb raider sucks, so that rules them out!

Deus Ex is a great game, one of the best all-time. Deus Ex 2 is due out early December.
TRON 2.0 is a fun game as well. Max Payne is a 3rd person shooter. I hear that Max Payne 2 which just came out is also very good.

Since you mentioned Alice, there's the Clive Barker Game that is very similar called "Undying". And if your looking for a treat, if you can dig up the old "Phantasmagoria" games, they can be fun. Also, you can revert back to the Myst series. There is alot of games out there, and you've knocked out many of them since you said no war games, but thier out there. Another old game that I loved playing and trying to find a copy of is "Neverhood", a game that was released by Lucas Films I belive. It's a claymation puzzle solving game. Just remember though, if you start these games, it's easy to cheat and find walkthroughs for them.

Hitman 2 is excellent!
I just beat Max Payne 2 and i must say it rocked, i already started it again. Star Wars: Jedi Academy, I just got it and have only played the first few missions but it is very fun, the story is great, its like your right inside a star wars movie(the original 3, not the new ones lol) All 3 of these games have the behind the shoulder view you like and are action packed, I highly recommend them.
