Question why won't battlefield 1942 work?

i purchased battlefield 1942 recently and would like to play it. it loads fine and i can view the menu's fine but once in a game it wil play for a short time and then just freeze does any one have any idea what is wrong? my system specs are : asus a7n8x-vm using the on board g force 4 mx graphics and 512 mb of pc 3200 ram

What sound card? And is your Direct X up-to-date?

I dont think your onboard graphix will work for 1942. Its too much of a high demand game for onboard stuff. And welcome to Pcmech .

thanks for the welcome hoping to get a graphics card got ne ideas on what one i should get so long s its not to expensive and will work with my motherboard

If your tight on cash ya can get the Geforce 4 MX 440 or a FX5200 both thoses card will work. If ya can put a few more bucks in go for ATI Radeons starting at the 9000 Pro or 9600 Pro models. good luck
