Thumbs up Call of Duty- the reviews are right

This game is excellent . Very intense and immersive. Its notably better than recent games like Max Payne 2, Chaser, Jedi Knight Academy, and Halo. If you like MOHAA type games, you have to check this out. I've never played a game this immerisve- and I've played many, many FPS's.

Great graphics, better sound, great weapons modeling, AI is better than most.

I agree. This one just takes MOHAA to a new level. Since I love realistic military scenarios, this one hooked me right away. Games like Halo, JK, and UT don't really appeal to me, since there is no sense of realism.

Anyway, the weapons are amazingly real, the AI in CoD is great. Although, you will notice that the computer AI for the axis is a lot better than the AI for your teammates (allies).

Thats so true N8. Just 20 minutes ago I was playing and unloading a clip at someone down the hall, when two of my teammates walked right in front of me. One got shot in the head, the other got a clip in the back. Whoops, my bad, but if you're that stupid, AI or not, then I don't need you on my team.

i am playing the single player campaign and the story is very nice indeed. really feels like you're 'in ' the game. The only big letdown i found is that the environment is so static. couldnt they have made some thingies more interactive? like small objects like bottles, vases, lamps, ... to explode or break when shot and some large things like chairs and tables to be movable.
i do some 'hobby' mapping, currently with U2 engine and i can make much more interactive environments it seems.

btw does anyone know if there are any drivable vehicles in the game? i know its possible with radiant-based games, but i havent done it so far( i did do the missions in the passenger seat of the car and the back of the truck with the grenade launchers. )

Wait until you get to the Russian campaign before you start knockin' the game. There you can drive a tank and blow up buildings. Well not really blow them up but you shoot and knock out walls and floors, but the building remains there. It's fun and you go through the Staligrad ruins, which even though the city is a mess, it's kinda beautiful in it's own way. It must have taken a long time to make all those buildings look like a total mess!

I just started playing that campaign yesterday, first mission looked fantastic indeed. the view of the city and the part in the boat is the best.
