Hello Everyone,
Just did a fresh, new install of Windows XP Home, SP1, fully updated (Including the Drivers). My Setup is: Asus A7N266 nForce Board, AMD 2400+, Geforce 2 MX 440 (64MB) and 256 MB DDR. Intergrated Sound. I previously had Win98SE on this box the game worked okay(A little choppy), just installed XP. Everything was working fine; I installed Splinter Cell (the choppiness left), and after the intro to the training course (Or during the intro sometimes) the sound gets badly distorted. Anyone know that the problem could be? Also, I downloaded the patches for the game... Thank You, Any help is greatly appreciated, -Joe |

make sure you install your sound drivers (from your CD that came with the mobo) and check the web for updated drivers also (even if it is integrated). and then make sure you have the correct sound card selected in the game (no EAX or anything like that).

Thanks Dragon, I've tired that, reinstalled the newest drivers, and still does the same thing... It just comes out of the blue; I'll be playing, and then horrible distortion problems start happening; after playing with the distortion for a while (2 minutes tops...) the game later locks up, and after you get back to the Windows Desktop, the sound is gone untill you reboot.... I have the patches for the game...
Thanks, -Joe |

I have a problem like that with my stock video card, it is getting too hot at times. Maybe something in your rig is getting too hot! Check it out.

I had a similar problem with splinter cell. I reformated my hd and I played recently and now it works well... probably a driver problem

Dragon NOA: Thanks, my temps seem fine though; ~43C Idle and ~50 Gaming. I'll change the fan setup and tell you how it goes.
muTe: I'm running the latest drivers for everything, patches, and updates, I'll chack out any conflicts that may be occuring. Thanks Everyone, I really appreciate the help ![]() -Joe |
