Video card Question
I have a fairly weak PC. It's a 1300Mhz 1.3Ghz Intel celeron with 384MB of RAM. Right now I have a 32MB Geforce MX 200 video card and find it hard to play some games like "Lords of everquest" due to extreme lag, even on the lowet settings. I was wondering if a better video card with, lets say 128MB would allow for smoother game play.

Yes it would.
If the budget is tight a 4200 would still improve matters greatly. |

Actually GF2MX was not a bad card too...I use to hav 1 for my 1st Pentium3 built and I can play most of the PC games.
64mb video card should do nicely.....Like the 4200. |

I recommend the Ati 9000 Pro or Ti-4200, the 9200 Pro is also a good card.

So the more MB the card has the less RAM it uses to store data right? Or how does it work?

What kind of internet connection you have? If you are lagging it may be b/c of that.
A Radeon 9000 ~= a geforce 4200 (so i hear) The more memory on a video card, the less the video card has to use system RAM. The more VRAM the better up to about 128MB. That way you don't create a bottleneck of your CPU using system RAM and your Video card asking to use it and clogging up the system bus.

Yeah, how long from now do you plan on doing a full new computer build or buy, because if not too far from now, save your money and put it all into the computer when you are ready. Otherwise go for a 9200, or FX5200, although I would choose a 9200.

I haven't played online gaming for a while and at campus, we got something like T-1 (so i've been told) so i really don't lag. Being a poor college student i don't plan to upgrade my Pc any time soon. so i guess i'll just get a gf 4 ti 4200. Where can i find a gf 4 ti 4200? Does best buy carry em?

Here's a bunch at Newegg. Guess I don't understand why you'd want a Dx 8 card for this kind of money when you can get a 9600 XT for nearly the same price.

The Ti-4200 is considerably less in price than a 9600XT, about a $65 difference anyway.
Heres the cheapest i could find a Ti-4200 128mb 8xagp: http://www.gameve.com/gve/store/prod...u=VC-LEAD-SP12 |

since the geforce4 ti 4200 isn't a DX9 card, i was think about the 5200. Are all the 5200 all the same, cuz there's a Aslyum version, which i was told was made for gaming by a sales person.

The 4200 is so much better than the 5200. I STRONLGY recomend you not to get the 5200. That person who told you it was a gaming card either doesnt know what hes talking aboot or he lied. If you look at dx9 benchmarks you will see that the 5200 isnt truly a dx9 card.

All cards made today are 8x and will work just fine in a 4x AGP slot. If you really want to know d/l AIDA32 or CPUID. I believe they both have screens that show how fast your AGP port is running. Your BIOS will say too (along w/ MOBO manual and mobo's website).
