Cool Call of Duty

I just got my paycheck and I was about to buy Call of Duty. Does anyone recommend this game? I hear its a pretty solid game with great sound effects... good graphics.. but with a relatively short single player mode....What are the pros/cons of this game? I just want a solid WWII FPS game .... is this the one to get? thanks

Yes! Everything I've read about it, and heard about it is positive. It is very solid. PCGamer gave it a 91% in the last issue. They had very minor issues, and the reviewer said that they in no way would prevent him from buying the game.

The multiplayer is great. I don't know where you heard that. The single player is short on easy but it takes forever on hard. (there are no health packs). I definetly recommend the game.

I beat the single player twice. It was fun. Multiplayer was fun too, but now I hear there is a lot of cheating. Doesn't matter great graphics (especially the Dam level) and a wonderful singleplayer experience. GET IT!

It's a great game, I wish I wasn't 3/4 the way thru it!
It's hard to quit when you start playing it.

I haven't seen much cheating. I think if you sitck to the main servers that have regulations and good moderators you won't have any problems.

In the light of WW2 themed games, I would highly recommend it. You'll notice several scenes from recent movies/shows in the game play as well. Some scenes from Band Of Brothers were used, the Russian campaign begins as if you were watching Enemy At The Gates, etc. All in all, a great game.

I've had it for a few days and advanced several levels. I'm playing at the greenhorn level and it's fun. I have one problem though. If I run the game normaly it will lock up my PC sometimes. I'm running it in safe mode now and that cuts down somewhat on the looks of the game. You can see my system, what do you think could be causing the problem? I have DX 9b but the original drivers (2.2) I think. I've downloaded the new drivers 3.10 I think. I haven't loaded them yet though. Would that help? I don't like changing GPU drivers unless I have to.
All that said, I like the game alot. Great graphics and directional sound.

Yes, installing the 3.10's should fix the problem. This driver includes a patch specifically made to address problems with CoD

lol. all my game patches seem to fix problems with my floppy drive. Why would a game have a patch to fix problems with it self? Lol, I keed I keed. But yes, try out the patch and report back.

I've just finished it- I enjoyed it....

Have done multiplayer (LAN) and thought it was good, also.

No lagging problems, no crashes, etc....

Yes, Prew.... I misread your post and thought you were talking about a game patch that fixed problems with that game, which all game patches do. Then I realized you meant a video driver update, my bad.

Well based on everything I'd read, I went out and got CoD. In my opinion...which, yes, is just like an asshole....this game still doesn't hold a candle to BF1942. The single player is fun, although not much of a challenge. Multiplayer has been a real pain so far...I enter the CD key, it says 'key appears to be valid', I try to enter a server and it says key not valid.

Hey ATW, I played for a good two weeks straight in multiplayer and one random day it said my key was invalid after playing with it the entire week earlier. I think I went into the options menu and re-entered it or maybe deleted the file the key was stored in. After that it worked fine. It was weird though.

Funny thing is I actually got into a server first try without even entering a CD-key, but when I left to find another, and entered the key, it wouldn't let me.
