Looking for good console

My g/f wants to buy a console but can't decide which. I hate to start a console war, but I need help. I dislike consoles and enjoy my computer better so am not informed much on the games out.

Right now I am leaning toward XBox since she hate tough controls. And I've always noticed PS has tough controls and terrible camera issues (Ya know, walk into a room cam switches rapidly and end up walking out of the room instead). If she can't get it down right away she gives up. I also don't think Gamecube is for her since Nintendo has become more of a kiddy console.

Normally I would have said PS2 because Sony has always dominated the gaming console industry but XBox has a ton of interesting games out. She enjoys GTA, racing games and such.

So what do ya say?

I have an Xbox....but if I had the option again, I think I might have bought a PS2, the graphics are better on the XBOX, and it has a HDD which is nice...but if you want games...go with the PS2....I have waited too long for good Xbox games....PS2 seems to have a lot now. I am really getting into computer gaming anymore, because computers always seem to have the Xbox and PS2 games because they just port them over...and with my new system it would be a waste not to game. If you want games: PS2 If you want hardware, and cost effective ness (2 free games and free xbox live, even though live is poop): Xbox

I am not even going to mention game cube...just don't get me started on game cube.....

I will vote PS2, only because the games seem to have a broader selection, and also there seem to be more accessories, that you can buy and what not to match the XBOX, even though they cost more you can get them.

Xbox... It has many interesting games coming out as well as many racing games. The hard drive is nice and Xbox Live is amazing. I don't no what Icallmedan means by "poop". Voice communication that works is built in and the amount af annoying players is small due to the strict enforcement of the rules and the suspension of accounts. That is what the PC online gaming world needs badly. Broadband is required also which nearly eliminates the slow laggy games found on PS2. In my opinion the controllers are much more comfortable than PS2 or Gamecube. I say Xbox.

Bad camera angles? Not all the PS2 games have the same camera problem.Just name a few that does.....like Resident Evil(very lousy camera),M.I.operation surma,Devil may cry2 and some minor camera problem for others.
If she like racing game.. well thats just another good news if ya getting a PS2 coz Gran Turismo 4 will be out with better graphics.

X Box seems to be good for modding, (I hear you can use it as a web server). When it comes to consoles I stick with the classics, Super NES, NES, PS1, etc.

Haven't read the other posts but XBOX and PS2 are your best bets unless your 10. XBOX can even be modded into a computer and PS2 has a crap load of games available. Usually though, the XBOX has the same or similar games as a PC, so if you want different ones, go with the PS2.

i love nintendo. i had their original nintendo entertainment systems when they came out with it. those were good times. too bad they never grew out of duckhunt.

now i own a ps2 which is by far my favorite consol ever (outside of pc). i've played xbox and its just confusing.

xbox's controllers have too many buttons and are not even close to logically placed. depending on the brand of controller you buy, the buttons may be in a different place from the stock controllers.

the hard drive aint great. when the hell are yoyu gonna need 50,000 saving blocks? "but you can copy games on it". if you loved xbox then you wouldnt do that. if that catches on the the xbox game market fails becuase no ones buying them. a ps2 saving card is big enough for plenty of games to be saved. an 8 gig hd is just stupid.

ps2 does have the majority of the games. pointing out specific examples is stupid becuase if your buying the system for one title then your an idiot. whenever these debates come up at a forum i frequent (pbreview.com) the same arguments aree made. xbox'ers through down halo and ps2 users through down the GTA line. given that GTA is now for xbox but still. 1 title will not make or break a console. both of these titles are available on pc.

i say ps2 becuase its got so many games that your bound to find some you like. and its a no frills system. you dont need a hummer to pick up groceries when you live in the suburbs.

well as far as controls goes, xbox and ps2 are the same. 3 weeks ago i woulda said ps2, but now i saw xbox. this weekend i got together with12 friends, we had 3 tvs, with 3 linked xbox's and we played halo, it was a blast. and xbox has a lot of the same games as ps2, and where it doesnt it has some good games of its own, only reason ps2 might have more is its been out longer.

gamecube has the easiest controls, and yeahh most its games cater to kiddys, but im sure they have a few decent games for the older crowd.

I have a PS2 and wouldn't trade it for anything (Xbox included). I tried playing on the Xbox at one of the store demos and, to me anyway, the Xbox controller becomes uncomfortable after playing on it awhile (unless, as I've been told, you have rather large hands...in other words, the Xbox would be uncomfortable for men with smaller hands and most women). Game makers are slowly but surely starting to make more titles for the Xbox, but they didn't have anywhere near the same amount of titles ready at the console launch date as what the PS2 did. And the PS2's library is still expanding at a faster rate than the other two systems'.
As for Gamecube being a kiddy system, yeah, they have a lot of kids games, but they do have some adult oriented games too, like Resident Evil. Really, IMO, the best way is to go to a store that has all three set up for customers to play and decide which you like best as far as graphics, controller feel, and amount of games available that fit your tastes.

If you played Xbox with the old, large, controllers than you probably didn't like them. I didn't either. The controller s is much improved and it is very comfortable. I don't know what you mean by "not logically placed". They are very easy to memorize and use. Also, you cannot copy games onto the Xbox hard drive. The main thing that is used for is copying you own music to use in games and downloading updates and addons for games. You can't to that on any other console. I love the Dolby Digital sound also. I have my Xbox hooked up to my theater system via toslink and it is like nothing I have ever herd on a console.

Hmmm...I wasn't aware they'd changed the Xbox controllers. All of our stores around here must still have the old ones then, because they all have that same big clunky controller on the demo units and the ones for sale on the shelf look like the same size controller to me.

Id say PS2, but I love Nintendo too. Xbox is the blacksheep as far as I am concerned, I rarely ever play it, most good games on it I can get on PC. I have PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox and had them all for well over a year. Go with PS2, but if you need mario the GC is only 100$.

Wasnt a thread just like this closed a couple of days ago?
I voted for the xbox as always, less games but better games.
If there was a console with 1 million bad games and one with 10 good ones what would you buy? The answer is easy, the xbox!

Cant beat controller-s, buttons are at just the right place and the resistance is perfect

I like my GC. I'm not really a hardcore gamer or anything, so all the number like polygons/second and stuff don't matter to me. I've always been a Nintendo guy, and I will continue to support them. I just want a system that is easy to use, has games that I like, and does a good job visually, and GameCube does that for me.

If you want some more input, check out this thread.

PS2 is a better buy, more games available and easier controller than that monstrosity of a controller that x-box has. you can also watch dvd's with it, you can do that with an x-box too but you have to buy something seperate to do that

The new Xbox controllers are not large. Xbox Live is a million times better than PS2 online. You can also download updates and fixes for games.

Thats true, cant beat xbox live, updates games and the xbox(thers aven a update for chat rooms). The PS2 controller is the worst I have ever seen, your hands are all streched out on that thing and theres no resistance in those joysticks, how are you suposed to get headshots like that? Xbox has the best controller, online scervice and games(eventhouh there are less). Becaus if you think about it lees good games is better that alot of bad ones as ive said before. The only problem with xbox live is that once you play it you cant go back to single player, its too addicting

SNES!

SNES IS THE GREATEST GAMING SYSTEM EVER CREATED! And it's probably pretty cheap now.
