Neverwinter Nights ??'s
Howdy all. I've been playing Neverwinter Nights for a few days now, and my henchman who is a Bard has a tendancy to rush right into the heart of combat and get killed. She is armed with a bow, and I've commanded her to stay at a medium distance. Should I command her to stay farther back? Is there a way to control her movements?
Also, she has a better Lore skill rateing than I've got. Is there a way I can get here to identify items for me? Lastly, she is my only henchman. Should I hire more? Or is one enough? Thanks.

I think you can only have one at a time and I do not play with a henchman anymore, lvl 15
since I heard rumors they take away experience from kills. THey are a great use to early levels though.

Those comments are true: you can only have one at a time, and they do earn experience points.

The new expansion pack, Hordes of the Underdark, is also very good.

How does it compare with the earlier Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games? Also, what do you think about Pool of Radiance for game play, as I saw it for $9.99 at Wal-Mart the other day?

NWN Original was awesome, Shadows of Undrentide (1st expansion) awesomeer??, Hordes of the Underdark (2nd expansion) awesomest?? I found that next to Diablo 2 you couldn't play a better role playing style of game!! One thing however, if you play them all make sure you do not pull a BOZO like me and assume that they will not come out with a 2nd expansion (HOU) and uninstall the game...you can import your character into it or automatically level up your newly created character to level 15. It is awesome starting out more powerful especially as a sorcerer...the spells are amazing. I'm playing it for the second time now, first as a fighter and now as a sorcerer...they definately both have there advantages. In HOU you can have 2-3 Henchmen...for a while atleast...you end up loosing one....hmmmm?
I played Baldurs gate and still have them but they pale in comparison...Icewind Dale is the same..with better graphics. The battle at the end of NWN HOU is definately worth playing. If you haven't played the new Dungeon Siege Legends of Aranna you should try it out also, the expansion also includes the original so don't buy both. Happy Slaughtering....Chaotic Evil is so fun to play!! KJ |

oleblue73,
Maybe check out Neverwinter Vault. A while back a modder (Potencius, IIRC) came out with a bunch of AI upgrades for the henchmen so you could have a lot more control over them and their actions. I used them and found them to be a vast improvement over the NPC's out-of-box behavior, although they did take a bit of setup through conversation. This was for the original NWN game. Not sure that he continued updating them for the expansions, but perhaps someone did.
