the pro has faster memeory 3.6ns chips as opposed to the 3.3ns on the pro model. the non pro can be clocked to around 500MHz or so, the pro can near 700MHz or maybe even more.

what drivers are you using... i noticed a small decrease in my score (about 1000) with ati's latest catalyst drivers. I have a 9600pro.

I'm using Omega's 3.10's. Haven't touched the card yet. Just stuck it in the slot. I'm not a gamer tho, so to me, the benchmark is just for reference to establish a baselne. Might do a little oc and tweaking later on.

I just got 11342 on 3dMark2001 SE, with a system pretty similar to yours Panama, stock settings and the ATI 3.10's. Seems like it should go a little higher yet.

12000 for a 9800Pro is really bad, i got 15600 with an FX5900 400/800 at default, and it wasnt a clean install of everything either, so it could be higher. And with my FX5950 Ultra i get 16500 - 17000

If I knew what the problem was, I'd fix it. I'm assuming by my score of 5,240 in 3dmark03 that there is no problem with the card, just issues involving the entire system not performing as a whole as seen by my 12k score in 01.

Benched a 5900 today in a 3.4GHz p4. Got like 16899 in 2001se, and like 6400 in 3dm03. Aquamark was unreal at 50000. Funny the disparity between se, Aqua, and 03.

3dmark01SE is FSB dependant. the higher the FSB you have, the higher your score will be to rigs with the same card. i score in the 13ks at default 266FSB. ramp it up to 436MHz and watch the score explode. 3dmark03 is more GPU dependant than anything. NIOS tweaking doesnt have any major effects on 3dmark03 scores.

my framerates in 03 dropped slightly with an OCd CPU, unexplainable to me that one., except for maybe the now async CPU:RAM divider

Asynch is the reason. It adds overhead to the ram timings

me luvs synch...
