What are some good new PC games?

I am bored and I want to download some good demos and try out some games. I have some good Xbox games and I am still playing many of my PC games but I want to try some new ones out. There doesn't seem to be many good games as of late on Gamespot (check THIS out ). Here is a list of games that I already have:

Medal of Honor AA/SP
Call of Duty
Rise of Nations
Age of Mythology
Age of Empires The Conquerers
Flight Simulator 2000
Combat Flight Simulator 3
Sim City 3000
Roller Coaster Tycoon + Loopy Landsacpes/corckscrew follies expansion
Need for speed I, II, III, High Stakes, Porche Ulneashed, Hot Pursuit 2 demo
Starwars Episode I Racer
The Sims
Midtown Madness
Halo Trial

Have you gotten Need for Speed Underground? I seem to recall someone playing a demo for it, though I could be mistaken.

Medal of Honor: Rising Sun?
If you like FPS's there's Deus Ex, and DX Invisible War, Max Payne 1 or 2, and GTAIII PC; those are all fun, though I don't know if they're your cup of tea.

Any particular genre you like? Judging by your list it seems strategy...

I like FPS, strategy, adventure, some racing, simulation and others. I should have said that initially. I already have the NFS Underground demo. I forgot to post that. MOH Rising Sun is for consoles. The next one for the PC will be Pacific Assault in April. I will check out some of the games you listed. I never liked the Grand Theft Auto series.

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Star Wars: Knight Old Republic
Max Payne 2

Other ones include:
Jedi Academy
Ghost Recon: Island Thunder (for XBOX also)

And you can never go wrong with a good game from the Unreal series (but I'm a little bias there lol).

BTW: That game in the link rocks! lol

I'm looking for downloadable demos for the PC. Prince of Persia doesn't have a demo according to Gamespot. I will try the other two. Keep them coming.

Sorry about that. The first two I listed are supposed to both be games of the year.

P.S.: The d/l section for the big rigs game has a patch that brings the game upto version 1.0! Oh my.

If you just want the demo, there's a console game out called Beyond Good and Evil. It's a pretty nifty game from what I saw...which reminds me, I gotta finish that demo

EDIT: I just remembered Starscape, from Moonpod. You can play a 10-minute demo, you shoot ("mine") asteroids, build ships and fight off aliens, sort of a new-age Asteroids I guess.

The Battlefield 1947 demo did not impress me. It was horrible. If you can tell me that the full game is much better then I may buy it. I know it's very popular but that demo left a bad taste in my mouth. I also have America's Army which I forgot to list.

Yeah bf1942 is one of my fav games,
Knights of the Old Republic is also a lot of fun,
Counterstrike is still an awsome game but you need a cdkey to get Steam.

If you played the single player BF demo, then yes, I can see what you'd be turned off. It's only good for multiplayer.

I will have to check out Battlefield. I did download the Prince of Persia Demo and Far Cry. Prince of Persia works fine. However, I am very dissapointed with the performance of Far Cry. Is this a DX9 game? I don't see any reason other than that as to why it would perform so poorly on my system.

Here are my system specs

ASUS A7V333 Mother Board
AMD Athlon XP 1.8ghz CPU
512mb 333mhz DDR RAM
60 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive
6GB 5200 RPM Hard Drive
GeForce 4 ti 4800se 128mb Graphics Card
Plextor 24/10/40x CDRW
Pioneer 16x DVD-ROM
Windows XP Home Edition
Cable Modem
C-Media onboard sound
Logitech Z-640 Speakers
Enlight 360 Watt Power Supply

I would start FarCry with medium graphic settings for everything and 1024x768 w/ 32bit color. Does it still lag? I have a 4200 and it runs fine.

I pressed the "auto detect" button and it set everything to low. It works OK but looks horrible. There is something wrong.
