The Sims2

I've heard that Maxis is coming out with a new version of the Sims (instead of the never ending onslaught of expansion packs). Does anybody know when it's coming out (or came out)?

Who care, the Sims games are the slime on the vermin, the pits of the pits, if crud were shoes the Sims would be the crud in the crud's shoes. You need to play some manly games, tank games, like BF1942. Oh, and visit my forum, at anythingforums.bravehost.com. They rock. Not like PCMech though, cuz, the Admins here are probably the best guys that I have ever met, online or off.

I think the sims games are very creative, original, fun, and can be played by anyone. I don't have a problem with shooting games like BF1942, or Call of Duty or what ever else is out there. I mean every shooting game is about the same just has a different name, graphics and story. Plus when one game comes out and the graphics engine is completely new everyone else copies that engine puts a different name on it and people believe it's new and better.

Talk about herding the sheep, my brother is one of those sheep, he has Medal of Honour, Battlefield 1942, one of the exp. packs for BF1942, and Call of Duty. He plays them for about 6 months and then buys another one but they have the same Ideas get a gun, kill the bad guys, your a hero.

I think sims 2 will be even better then the first one because of the new ideas like people actually grow old, new graphics engine, new jobs and things like growing pot to make money, bookstands made of bircks and boards. The Sims 2 will have the best ideas from the first game and expansion packs without having to spend $400 on all the expansion packs.

What's this crap about "you need to playing manly games, tanks games, like BF 1942". Then transition to a shameful plug for your own forum on one of the best forums on the internet. I know lots of women that could chew you up and spit you out playing BF 1942. I bet you have never played The Sims, if you did you would enjoy it simply because it's a great consept, creative game play, new idea and made for all ages.

"very creative"

I'll give you that. But the game is based on features and graphics (10 billion files which take a silly amount of time to load on anything less than a p4 EE with a gig of ddr500). The "fun factor" and gameplay aspect worked on me for about an hour.

Since then I've condemned the game because my girlfriend and her cousin waste hours upon hours doing absolutely nothing (by playing). I mean... its one thing to build something... I'm all for building sims and other build/strategy type games... but spending day after day after day after day redecorating your living room gets monotonous quickly.

The fact that its an evil system hog and suckers gamers into buying dozens of expansion modules which give them practically nothing (almost as bad as everquest) doesnt help.

And the worst part of it... I'll be buying the crumby game for her birthday or something. Woe is me.

I realize that The Sims series is not exactly a favorite among the hardcore gamers, but I enjoy to play it from time to time. And I enjoy other games as well, not just the Sims. I just wanted to know when it is coming out.

Vigo, where did you get the impression that you need some monster machine to run the sims. It runs just fine on the P4A 1.8 that we have, and even better on my build (sig).

i played the sims for hours on an amd duron 700 mhz system, and you do build stuff with it... you build up a person. it's an interesting game. just about all games are wastes of time, whether it's a pokemon pet watch or half life 2... there's no real point to spending hours on it except to have fun.

I agree... thats why i dont play many games. I feel that I could be spending my time on something more productive.

I used to play the sims but it got borning real fast, at least it did for me. I never played any of the expansions. Not that I dont get bored from other games as well.
