who plays/played mmorpgs?

Just curious who has played mmorpgs, and if they still do. Personally, I played EverQuest but made myself quit when I had to go to college =)

Never have. I want to pay only once for a game, not on a monthly basis.

Since we're taking about RPGs, does anyone know the name of those online RPG's thats sort of a chat... here's an example.

CrazyMike: I'm a wizard, I cast a fire spell on a monster
Someguy: I am a monster but have special wizard blocking spells
CrazyMike: Well.... that's not good at all

Any clues?

If you are talking about the old ones, I think they were called MUDs...can't remember what that stands for though.

I played Dark Age of Camelot for about a year, and now that I am in college, I quit the game.

Played Star Wars Galaxies for the free trial month, then switched to FFXI. I love the concept of MMORPGs but dont know if its really worth the monthly fee.

I been playing Star Wars Galaxies, But my 1st MMORPG was Shadowbane. Im waiting now for EverQuest II which I think will rock. The Grahpics in my opinion for EQ II look more realistic then that of World of Warcraft.

ive played Earth and beyond which is a really good game! but i only played the free 5 day trial! but i looked on the website for the costs and thought to myself that i couldnt afford this every month!. i tried Eve online but i found that to be crap! i didnt like the layout so i stopped playing it! i wish they would bring out one that costs a lot to buy but you dont have to play a monthly bill!

I've played but stop. Apparently, there are no real goals in MMORPG.
The games I played are RO-ragnorak online, Phantasy star online, FFXI,
No sense of achievement like other RPG's when you finish the game. You just level up, fight mosnters, level up, make friends, talk, level up. Boring. I prefer playing all the FPS and sports titiles online. That way I know who sucks big time

FPS games I guess are the same way, Run around shoot & Run around shoot. Sports games such as Madden 2004 lob away, Lob away some more....LOL. So it goes both ways for all games

I'm still looking for one ( Earth&Beyond was close but not it ) and just now I'm considering Second Life : http://secondlife.com/?setcookie=true
I like creating stuff (but not having to fight all the time) so this may allow me the right mix.
There's this 'Garden of the Immortals' I was thiking about.
It will need guards but that's not it's purpose and it could work there.

No, IMO anyway. You'll be better off with FFXI. Too much bugs. Unless you are a Star wars fan.
