Can't reinstall B1942 after uninstall !!

Hi all,
getting rather frantic here now... I downloaded some mods for Battlefield 1942 and installed them but when I tried to play the game 'jumped' out of the startup sequence each time so I thought I would uninstall, do a system restore and reinstall B1942 and the expansion Road to Rome.

Problem is that the install never completes. I get as far as the 'Installshield wizard' with the 'setup status' showing at 7% at the file address ..\archive\sound.rfa but it hangs here then up comes this window:
'Exit Setup'
Specified component cannot be found in the media. An attempt was made to access a component that does not exist in the named media'
I hit 'ok' and the setup cancels out entirely.

I have retried this a number of times but get the same event each time.

Any ideas anyone? I am kind of lost without my B1942!!

Delete all files and directories related to BF1942, and then go into the Registry and delete all keys related to BF1942. That should do it.

Hi, thanks for your input. After uninstalling I did go to the programs folder and delete the EA folder inside. I assumed this would take care of any extra files or folders not deleted on uninstall. If there is somewhere else I need to look then could you give me a specific address? I tried 'registry' in windows search but nothing relevent came up.

Thanks, again, for your input.

The registry is basically a place where Windows keeps track of all programs installed, and system options and variables. To edit it(in Windows XP): Start>Run>Type "regedit" without the quotations. I don't have BF 1942 installed on any of my systems, but the registry key(s) should be under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>EA or something similar. Delete all keys associated with BF1942. WARNING! Editing the Registry can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, edit at your own risk. You've been warned.
