a new release date for HL2

http://money.cnn.com/2004/02/02/comm...ming/index.htm
After so many delays, I can't be sure of anything, let's see if they manage to release it this summer.

What was the point of stealing some files, that has delayed the most anticipated game?

God knows, though there was a story about HL2 being on sale in Russia.
I was going to post the CNN article but aym_7 beat me to it.

I'm sure they didn't think that the game was going to be delayed. They were just seeing if they could hack into Valve and steal the most anticipated game before it was released. Valve knowing the original and CS had a lot of cheats for it didn't want to give the hackers a head start. Plus, most likely, they were being rushed and they weren't completely finished with the game.

(Groan) By the time they release the game, Doom 3 will already be the king of the next gen. shooters.

I highly doubt that the game was delayed because of the leak, I think that Valve wouldn't have finished the game regardless of the leak, they just found it a good excuse for the delay.
After the leak, they delayed the game till April 2004, and now they've delayed it again till the summer.
And I agree with you CrazyMike, the game to be released first (HL2 and Doom III) will most likely be more popular.

I wonder if it'll be pushed to oblivion or released when the engine is outdated, like Condition Zero.

Everytime I turn around, I hear news about it being delayed. Other than that, not much else...
