Downloading GTA

I'm having massive problems downloading GTA from Rockstar's website..

I've tried it using Mozilla's download manager and using DAP

I might try using IE in a minute (eeeek!:P) but it always seems to crash out at about 130MB of 328MB and either complain about dropped connection or cannot read file, etc etc

Any ideas? Or other places I can download this?

I do actually own the game but apparently this is a modified version for better compatibility with Windows XP etc. Besides, I can't find my CD :@

Thanks

Jim

Can you send the link to it? I could never find the link and I've looked all over.

Sorry mate, yeah the link is

http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/gta.htm

Actually the first result on a google search for "Download GTA" so you can't have been looking that hard :-D

It's not a direct link, you type in your details and they email you a link with a session ID which expires once your download is completed. And the server doesn't support resume which certainly isn't helpful.

Cheers

I thought resuming failed downloads depended on the client, not the server. When u d/l a file and it fails, it is deleted. You have to save the incomplete d/l so that you can resume it later. Am I incorrect in thinking this?

It is also dependant on the servers capability I believe, I emailed Rockstar ages ago because I was having trouble downloading on my 56K connection because it had a 2 hour dialup cut off!

I upgraded DAP last night and downloaded the file using their resume service. Once downloaded the file was corrupt

Absolutely useless... I'm at a loss

yes it depends on the server too, I tried to download GTA 1 long time ago and couldn't find a way to resume it.

If you still can't find it on the web mirrored somewhere else, you can download it off some P2P network, I found it on eDonkey, and to make sure that the file you downloaded is actually the file released by Rockstar, ask them for MD5 checksums and compare it to the checksum of the file available on eDonkey.

I tried looking on ShareAza and there was only one source available for that file

Which was a shame to say the least!

I have now downloaded it direct from Rockstar twice, and twice it has been corrupt

Yeah I had to google for it... Don't think they have a link on their main webby. Even though their server is crap anyway, they don't want the bandwidth hogged I guess
