Battlefield Vietnam---aviation

Anyone have much luck flying jets/helicopters using a standard keyboard? After numerous attempts leading to complete disaster, I'm beginning to think all those expert pilots have something up their sleeves.

no, a joystick wont help since you have to control your soldier in FPS mode, and I dont think the game has an option to switch to joystick once you're in an aircraft, just turn on the game without any enemies, and create yourself a practice arena, where you can get the hang of it.

I pretty sure most players use a joystick to fly.
Myself and all my friends and family all use joysticks.
You can set up a joystick in the options/controls menu.
It lets you select which way to move the stick for different moves, and allows you to select which buttons on the stick to use for fire and alt fire.
My cousin does use his keyboard to fly, and it kind of amazes me how well he does at it.
I use a stick to drive all vehicles in BFV.
As suggested, go to single player and practice, practice, practice

keyboard works well for helicopters but not for planes.

Just set up air controls for joystick leaving all others untouched. Just make sure you save, works for me.
